We're fortunate to be new residents of Celebration and had the opportunity to dine for the first time at Yachtsman Steakhouse last night using our shiny new Disney Dining Experience discount card!
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner for two. While there were small children dining (it is, afterall, Disney), I wouldn't recommend bringing your toddlers. The atmosphere, food and pricing are definately more in tune with adult dining (or at least dining with older children...we have a 13 year old daughter and I wouldn't hesitate to bring her!)
The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Yacht Club Resort and provides a view of storm-along-bay. It is decorated in a subtle nautical style with warm woods, navy blue fabrics and mission style amber lighting. We had a window seat for two that was very pleasant. (note: if you are going for view, this is probably not the restaurant for you...I'd stick with California Grill or even Narcoosees)
Beef reigns supreme on the menu, although we noted pasta, pork and chicken as entree choices. I enjoyed a wonderful cream of potato soup garnished with cheddar cheese and bacon as a starter. My husband had the shrimp cocktail and he loved it. He said it was the best shrimp he had tasted since we purchased shrimp fresh from a shrimper in Marathon Key years ago!
For dinner, I had the recommended ribeye filet with gratin potatoes and mushrooms. All was prepared perfectly and I especially enjoyed the mushrooms. My husband had the Bourbon steak with mashed potatoes and raved about the flavor of the meat.
For dessert, we split a macadamia nut pie, which was wonderful and my husband enjoyed a cappuccino, served with a candy swizel stick. I'm pregnant, so we did not imbibe, but noted an impressive wine list. We enjoyed a large bottle of sparkling water with our meals.
Our server was Dennis and he was pleasant and efficient. Our meal moved at a nice pace...we were neither rushed nor ignored.
