Here's what she said ..........................

1. Renovation/rehab of all AB buildings is completed.
2. There are no specific non-smoking buildings; there may be areas of each building where smoking is permitted.

Hoping for a non-smoking, water view in Bldg 18!!!!!!

That's really too bad that there are not any actual non-smoking buildings. There's nothing worse than walking out of your room to be greeted by smokers enjoying their habit outside your door.

This happened to us recently at POP. These guests saw nothing wrong with standing right outside my door (and theirs) smoking, since they were in a "no-smoking room". I get so frustrated when people go for the loophole instead of the spirit or intent of the policy. Jeeeesh!

this is reaaly sad news as myself and my daughter are highly allergic to smoke i hope we make it through the week w/out having to leave our hotel the first night :moped: It has happened before :confused3

Last time there, I was told the two buildings available with empty rooms for us (one was 14, I think the other was 17) were totally smoke free, in the rooms (people still smoked on the walkway). I have a guarenteed non smoking room (asthma), and I asked. But who knows now..I did look at a lot of the doors as I walked, and all I saw had the no smoking symbol. You were told this today while at POR or checking in, or when making a ressie on the phone to CRO?

It was a phone call and there is always the chance that she was incorrect. Someone might want to call and confirm what I was told.

I hope this is true, we are requesting a room in building 14 and that would be great. I can't stand it when people near you are smoking. 3 weeks to go. :Pinkbounc

YIKES....I have 2 little ones who have asthama and I can't expose them to a smoking room...ugh!! Please let me know what you all find out..

Thanks

Cynthia

I was told by a CM that there were a couple of thousand rooms and only about 50 smoking rooms so, I'd say if you do the math there MUST be a building or two that doesn't have any smoking rooms in it. We just got back and I think we saw two young women smoking at the pool and we walked by one couple smoking along the pathway, but I think in a week that is all the smoking we saw at the resort...of course we spent lots of time at the parks though, where I DID see plenty of people "hiding" their smoking by holding their cigarette by their rear ends, that cracks me up. I feel like shout "OMG your BUTT'S on FIRE, I see smoke coming out of it!" I only did that once when I caught a jr high kid I knew smoking at a carnival. I wonder how that would go over at MK

Personally...I am a smoker. Whether or not I am in a smoking room or not, I choose to smoke outside. I do not smoke in my home or anyone elses. I know that it's a nasty habit and I choose to go outside to not offend anyone. If however there is a group of people sitting outside, I am polite enough to not blow smoke in there face, I would simply find another place to do my damage. I am not looking to get lectured or flamed (pardon the pun) however, smoking is not against the law...YET.

PS I do request a smoking room.

I'd bet that was her opinon. You don't actually talk to the resort when you call, and she might not have realized it. They will give you a non smoking room for medical reasons, but I don't believe they promise a non smoking building. Those who would have a problem walking through smoke, I don't know what to tell you. Some people get a non smoking room, and smoke right outside their room (or sometimes, they don't want the smoke to go in the room, so they smoke outside of my room..where the air conditioner sucks it in). It's not pleasant, but it's not against the rules. You most likely will encounter even more smoke around the pool, and they have a smoking area with ashtrays, near the bike rental, in back of the main building, just so you can be prepared to leave those areas, if it really bothers you (since again, you can't expect the smokers to leave, since those are smoking areas).

we had at least one smoker within "smell shot" of our room. We had requested a non-smoking room, as usual, and had never had a problem before. This time, one person would be standing outside a room very near to ours while she smoked and, on a couple mornings, our bathroom reeked of smoke when we came back from breakfast. We mentioned it to the CM at the front desk and they claim they phoned the rooms around us to let people know it was a non-smoking area but that didn't seem to help. I will mention that our building was being used by convention goers and not families. It could be that whoever made their ressies didn't ask about smoking and non-smoking sections for them or didn't realize some individuals were smokers. Aside from that, POR is one of our favorite resorts.
