Day One: Friday, October 18, 2002
I had to take off of work the whole day even though our flight didn’t depart till 5:30 p.m. because not only was I too excited, but I actually had a lot of things to get done prior to leaving. First off, I didn’t go to sleep till 1 or 2am the night before – Thursday night because I was trying to have my house cleaned for when I returned and make sure all laundry was done of what we were taking with us. Call me a procrastinator! Anyways, I wake up around 7am Friday morning to make my husband breakfast since he had to go and work a half day and I promised him since I was off that day I would make him breakfast. I wake up so extremely tired from lack of sleep all week and make a wonderful breakfast. As soon as I was done I went back to bed for about two hours so that I wouldn’t be cranky on the plane over to WDW. So around 10am I’m finishing packing me and my husband and watching my Disney videos on WDW while I’m at it, including the Boy Meets World episode that I had recorded where they go to WDW, since that show reminds me so much of me and my husband – high school sweethearts! I’m definitely in the Disney mood now. My husband calls and is now coming home at 11:30 a.m. instead of 1 or 2 pm as we had previously discussed. He says that we need to get to the airport early to put our names on the list for upgrade to be eligible for the first class. So, double-check everything on my packing list and off we go to the airport. We realized it was a good move since it was pouring down rain all that afternoon and traffic could had been bad. We go to the parking spot to park our car which we got to park free due to DH’s constant traveling. After about 30 minutes of driving around the airport to pick up and drop everyone else off, we get to our gate and find out that it’s doubtful we will get to be upgraded to first class because the flight is so full. Oh well, by this point it is 2pm and we are hungry, so we go to TGIF to eat and wait and watch people go by, and DH is asking me exciting questions like, what ride do you want to ride first and what are you most excited about. DH is so good at saying the right things! Well, after waiting forever in the airport, 5pm comes around and there will be a delay in our flight, now it’s 6pm due to lightening. Oh, and they are also offering free travel vouchers if someone is willing to get on the next flight, because this one is so full. DH considers that for a moment, but I wasn’t about to delay getting to WDW any more than it already is. I needed a fresh start in the morning and the later it takes to get there, the less sleep we will have. Now 6:30pm because lightening. Now it’s just “when we call you” to load up. We finally get to load and get to load first, due to DH’s gold status with American Airlines. We are stuck in the crowded coach and on an exit row, which is nice for more legroom, but bad because DH’s chair won’t recline at all due to being right by the window, so I switch with him so that we aren’t moody. We finally take off and are finally on our way, so I put in the Disney CD’s, including soundtracks from certain attractions there which my family made during May of 2000. I’m also reading my sister’s wonderful trip report she did from that vacation May of 2000, so I can get even more excited. After about 30 minutes of that, DH says he wants me to talk to him because he’s bored and hardly ever gets to fly with me. So I put up all the Disney stuff and discuss our itinerary for this trip. Around 11pm we land in MCO and boy are we ready to get out of a freakin airport! Well, we go downstairs and there is Tom from YourRide waiting for us with a pink sign that says “Rosenfelds.” Finally our trip is happening! Poor Tom he had been waiting quite a while since the delays kept happening in 30 minutes intervals. He goes to pull the car around where we are waiting for our luggage and we wait and wait and wait. An hour later at midnight our luggage finally comes! Apparently they only had 2 people working that night for the luggage and with it raining the luggage was all nice and wet. So we are finally on our way and Tom asks us if we want to stop anywhere for water or food. We stop at a 7-Eleven for some bottled water, since we know how expensive that can be in the parks. DH is very tired and starting to get moody. We finally arrive at Coronado Springs Resort and unload and check-in. The person at check-in was really nice and I told him that we were there to celebrate our 4-year wedding anniversary and my 27th birthday on Sunday, October 20, 2002. He was really nice and congratulated us on the birthday and anniversary and asked our names I told him Wendy and Michael and he says, just like Peter Pan! We had to wait for a bellman to come and get us to take us to our room and as we were waiting we took some great pics of the lobby. Finally we get to go to our rooms and the ride over was very nice, beautiful resort, especially the dig site at night. Our hotel room was facing the parking lot, which we didn’t care at this point, we just wanted to go to sleep, besides our dream hotel was the Grand Floridian and we would be there soon enough. I start to unpack us a little and turn on the WDW channel and finally fall asleep.
Stay Tuned: Will Wendy get her light-up 100th WDW pins and get to see them interact? Will Wendy buy her coolest souvenir yet? Will Mike and Wendy be able to get into California Grill during the fireworks being displayed at the Magic Kingdom? Will Wendy ever be able to use her Disney club card for discounts?

Great report. Look forward to more.
