I was able to get a reservation at 11:10am during my stay in May. :goodvibes

Using 'search' and looking at reviews, I have seen that some people don't care for the food and some like it.
So I guess, Question #1:
What is the food like? Are we talking about someplace like Hometown/Old Country/Country Buffet? One of those types of places?

Told a co-worker that I was able to get a reservation. He tells me to cancel it, because it's a buffet. I ask him why, and he tells me it isn't all-you-care-to-eat. He was charged twice because he went back up again.
Question #2:
I don't care if it is just once, but I need to know, is my co-worker full of it? I wouldn't trust this guy to spit on me if I was on fire.

Thanks in advance for answering my stupid questions!

That sounds odd... My understanding of a buffet is all-you-can-eat.

question number 2- yes hes full of it! lmao...we had a family of 4, and went up repeatley and were never ever charged more than once.

question number 1- it is buffet and yes there are varying opinions on here. personally my family enjoyed it. there was roast beef, pizza dfor the kids, salad bar, soups, pasta dishes, and so on there. i have a restricted diet due to colitis and one very fussy kid. we all found loads to eat. the only issue i had was the soft serve ice cream, i think it goes so fast it cant stay frozen, or doesnt have time to and it was almost like soup.

personally i would keep it....one more thing we also ate dinner there, not breaky or lunch. hope this helps a little...tell your coworker to go jump in a lake.

ditto to all that.

We've eaten there twice and really enjoyed it. I was in a "eat like a kid" mood last week when we ate there and helped myself to 2 slices of the cheese pizza and a big 'ol scoop of the mac & cheese from the "kids section" of the buffet and they were yummy!

He is full of it. I dont know why he gave you this kind of information. It is a buffet with various items just like any other. I preferred it over the 1900 Park Fare buffet but everyone has their own opinions.

They definitely do not charge you multiple times so that you don't have to worry about. :)

As for the food, i've been there for breakfast but not dinner. I love this restaurant and breakfast is so much fun and delicious, however I have heard nothing but bad reviews for dinner which is why we haven't been there for that meal. If you look around on here you will see what I mean. I still want to try the dinner but it's an awful lot of money to go try when i've heard such bad things.

Welcome to the Dis Jason:) Going to Chef Mickey's for the food isn't the best idea. The reason to go to Chef Mickey's is more for character opps.
The food is pretty much generic "buffet" quality meaning that some items are going to be, at best, mediocre. We were there in February and were surprised how good the mashed potatoes were, the salad was good too. Most of the rest of it...meh.*

If the characters aren't a priority, just about anywhere else on property would be a better choice.:earsboy:

*FYI--many people agree that anything at WDW called "pizza" isn't worth the cardboard it's cut out of.

My family (myself and 2 daughters) love Chef Mickey's. It is in partiality due to the character experience no doubt but we also all find things we enjoy on the buffet. I would keep it for sure. We've had breakfast and dinner and found both the be enjoyable.

And yea, the coworker is full of it.

I was very leary of going here, but was surprised at how nice it was. We were a large party and were convenient to the buffet. There was nothing outstanding, but because of the size of this restaurant we found the food fresher, varied and replenished more than at 1900PF.

I agree that the soft serve can be hit or miss simply because the machine can't keep up with demand. We enjoyed the mini desserts more.

The grandparents really enjoyed this little Oreo dessert at CM.

It's definately along the lines of Old Country Buffet. The food is just "okay." I enjoyed some of the desserts. :) As everyone has said, you definately can go up multiple times!

I agree that your friend is "full of it" or it was an accident he was double charged.

They do not charge you if you go up.....if that would've been the case DH would've been charged 4 times!! LOL :rotfl2:

We found the place and the food to be very good.

It is our experience it was better than normal buffet foods and a lot fresher. There was nothing that wasn't fresh. We seen the kitchen staff putting stuff out and taking stuff off constantly. Not just throwing new in with the old stuff. They actually removed the remaining food and replaced it with fresh from the kitchen. (I was impressed with that).

The characters are good, but to us the same as Crystal Palace just different characters.

Over all it was a very enjoyable meal......we will do CM again.

Great place to go to see and meet the characters so you can avoid the lines at the park. My kids really liked it but I'd never choose to go there for anything but the characters. The food was "fine" and is certainly all you can eat but buffets just aren't my thing I guess and for the $25+ or whatever it costs these days, I can do a lot better elsewhere.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I thought that my co-worker was full of it, he just LOVES to make stuff up.

We always go to Chef Mickey's but usually for dinner. ( my kids love their make your on sundae bar:lovestruc) The food is ok. It is a buffet and buffet are not super great imo, but i thought is was better than 1900 park fare's buffet at dinner. They do have craved roast beef and ham, salmon, a variety of vegetable prepared differently, pasta, mashed potatoes (the best) salad bar and cold pasta bar. The kids can choose from pizza, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese. Besides the ice cream bar they offer different mini desserts. The atmosphere is very kid friendly and the traditional disney characters (no lines!!):rotfl:

Sounds like your co-worker doesn't know what he is talking about. We ate a late breakfast there last May, and we thought it was great. We went in expecting average food, but we were both suprised that we really enjoyed it. The character interaction was wonderful! It was the first time dd saw Mickey Mouse and she was so suprised! I would recommend it, in fact, we are going back in may:). I can promise you they only charge you one time for the buffet. Dh ate so much that I am suprised they didn't raise their prices after we left lol.

We ate dinner there our first night of vacation last week and we all enjoyed it. IT is definatly all you can eat, you will not get charged anything extra. My kids loved the characters there so much that we decided to go back again at the end of the trip. They have lots of different foods- salads, breads, roast beef, ham, pizza, lots of side orders, etc.... the dessert there are delicious.

I agree Chef Mick's isn't the best food on property but if you have little kids it is a must do but to be charged twice?? What ever. These people that go to Disney once and think they are experts They get my goat!!!

Your co-worker was mistaken, you can make as many trips to the bar as you want. We eat there every trip to Disney. We like the food and the atmosphere. We feel it is a good choice for your money!
