Two ?'s - AP/which board

I have two questions so I thought I'd ask on one thread if that's okay.

1) When I come on the boards, I tend to go straight to the resorts section. Sometimes I visit the theme parks section but 95% of the time I only visit resorts. I was wondering how many other people favor this board? We love the resorts almost as much as the parks!

2) AP rates - I know this is a touchy subject right now so I apologize in advance for opening up another can of worms, but I can't help myself.

I was just on Mousesavers and I was reading about the current AP rates that expire 8/23. What is her name, Mary? I think that's right. She was saying that she didn't think discounts would come out for that time period and she was happy to eat her words. My question is...what's everyone's thinking that some type of discount will be available after that time? I'm thinking of going the first week in September. I saw that the current AP discounts were pretty good. What are the chances?

I spend most of my time on the resorts board, as well. DH & I have been returning to WDW since 1975, so to keep the visits fresh and new we enjoy trying new resorts. This board is great at keeping you up to date on the latest news!

As for AP rates, I tend to lean towards the view that new AP rates will be forthcoming.

christianweecare! I hope you're right about AP rates. I guess all we can do is check mousesavers, these boards and/or call CRO every single day.

I can live with AP rate of $204 for the YC or BC, which is the current AP offer.

C'mon Disney - throw us a bone if you want our park, souvenir, and food $$$$$. I'm pretending they are listening. I'm finally cracking up!

A couple of people on these boards like to flame we AP holders for wanting room- only discounts. They say that AP's don't guarantee us room -only rates. I know that AP's don't mean we will get AP room- only discounts. I don't need to be lectured about this; I know it.

The facts are, that for my last 25 or so visits staying at WDW resorts, I have not paid rack room rates. These visits have been since 1994. Lets face it, the crowds at WDW seems to be lower than during many of the years since '94. I don't care if the room-only discounts are called AP," ABC "code, Jolly Holidays, etc. they have been offered. In the past, the "ABC" room-only code will be offered, then maybe the AP room rate will be made available for a few $$$ less than the "ABC" code, notice I said maybe. The fact is, a room-only discount has been offered each and every time I have wanted to go to WDW. These discounts have been for 30% to 45% off of rack. This has been my experience and what happens in the future may be different. Just keep your eyes on these boards and www.mousesavers.com and the room-only discounts most likely will pop-up.

I agree with Gary, I expect that there will be AP rates out for the fall. Expectation built on experience not that we AP holders have "earned" or "deserve" discounts. It's just a simple fact that there are AP rates available for most of the year in our experience. Mary at Mousesavers (foodlover on this board) didn't think AP rates would be offered for this summer because of the discounts offered by the Fairy Tale packages.

Resorts and restaurant forums are usually my first two stops...depending on how hungry I am! :D Seem to hardly ever go to the Theme Parks section.

BTW when I made a reservation for the fall, the CM checked on AP rates which weren't out yet as we all know. She then talked about when they will come out not if they will come out. She seemed to think it will be soon. Good luck everyone.

Since I'm looking for AP rates for Oct 1 to 6, I check this board first. Otherwise, I check DVC first.

I think there will be AP rates after 8/23. I checked online for our dates and most resorts have rooms available. I don't know about codes, there were none after 7/4 except for FL residents, which was when FTP started.

My bet is the ap rates will be out when the next Mickey Monitor is due out. That is August I think. Thats how it happened in May.

This is the first section I go to, then theme parks. When we make reservations I'll go to the restaurants, etc. I don't have an ap, but I'm watching for rates for December and will buy one if the room rate is worth it even though we are only going to be there 6 nights.
