Two rooms for the price of one (sort of)

Today, I booked two connecting Category 10 "secret porthole" staterooms for a 7-night Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic in 2004. My wife, two daughters, and I will have twice as much indoor space as we had in our Category 6 stateroom on our 3/23/2002 Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Disney Magic. We'll have two pairs of split bathrooms, two sitting areas, twice as much closet and drawer space, two coolers, and two large but obstructed portholes. And the price is only about 13% higher than for a single Category 6 stateroom. (Of course, we won't have a verandah.)

I'm happy.

By the way, I used Dreams Unlimited Travel. I chose Dreams Unlimited because of the favorable comments on this board and because they're the sponsor of this board -- and I value this board. They made a good impression on me, and their price seems very good.

That's great, Horace, you will LOVE having the privacy with the extra cabin. Enjoy your planning! :D

Good point. (Of course, it's a long walk all the way to aft.) Your point reinforces that there are a lot of good alternatives to a private verandah.

We really liked the comfortable chairs on the Promenade Deck (deck 4). We'll be able to down a single flight of stairs from our hidden porthole "suite" to that wonderful part of the ship.

That's exactly what we did in April 2002--- and we LOVED the rooms! I have some pics of the connectors 5522/5524 on my website linked below.
:D

We booked the cat 5 cabin on either side of the "secret aft 7 deck" for that very reason for our 12/27 Magic cruise. Sis and BIL will be in one, DH, DS, DD and I in the other. These cabins show as Handicapped on the deck plan but the DCL rep said they could not book them as HC because the call buzzers were inoperable. Compared to the same Cat 5 cabin #7614 we had on our 4/14 cruise they are almost double in size with a huge deck and immediate close access to the "Secret deck."
