We were thinking of spending part of our vacation at the AKL and then switch to the Poly half way thru. Has anyone ever done this? Is it a pain to switch?

Any feedback would be helpful.

We did this in 2006 and are doing another split stay in July. It was not a pain at all. The resort will move your bags to the new resort if you'd like. We received our bags at BC about 4 hours after leaving the WL. I just packed a day bag and we spent the day at the pool. Some just head to a park and then back to the new resort after their bags arrive. Very easy!!!:)

I like to switch. This way we can get a chance to stay at all the resorts we want in less time! I enjoy the change of scenery. I don't think its a pain to switch.

Hey, a fellow Jerseyan here!!!

Do you have little ones? It could be a handful, but with careful planning it's a breeze.

We've done this several times, and we've never had a problem. It helps if you have a rental car as you can check in at your convenience at the new resort. If not, Bell services will take your luggage and move it for you. Be sure to keep any extra clothes, bathing suits etc. out because you may not get your luggage till later in the afternoon.

Here are 2 examples of how we've done this.
1. We loaded up the car first thing in the AM. We went to the new resort and checked in. If the room was ready, we would unload the car, then head to one of the parks (usually early opening park) using the bus system at the new resort. If the room wasn't ready, we would check in and then head out to one of the parks using the Disney bus system.

2. We would plan our schedule so that the day we changed resorts would be our "non-park" day. We load up the car, go out for a nice breakfast, check in at new resort and hang out by the pool all day (making sure we had our bathing suits, lotion etc with us). This works if you don't have a car. Just make sure you have your "pool bag" with you.

Good luck. We Love switching resorts - it's like having 2 vacations!!!:cool1: :cool1:

We have done a split stay the last two years. It's great. Unlike bashful4u, we don't have a car when we visit WDW. When you check out in the morning, bell services will get your luggage and have it transferred to the new resort. It will be delivered to the new resort around 3:00 in the afternoon.
