Two reservations or one

We are considering going on a cruise next year with my family in one room and my sister in law in another. Most likely we will be doing most of everything together (traveling, dining, checking in, etc.). My sister in law would pay for her own room. What is the best approach to make sure that our reservations are "linked" together? Should we do one reservation for two rooms? Or could my sister in law reserve her own room and then link them together if that is possible.

I don't think DCL does "1 reservation for 2 staterooms" -- each stateroom will be it's own separate reservation. You can then link them, which will put you together for the MDRs and you can do activity booking together (based on highest CC status in each room).

Correct - I learned this a very frustrating way. I wanted to move from one concierge room to two regular rooms, and couldn't understand why the system was charging me a "penalty" for half the cost. Eventually (not even right away, eventually) the CM explained that it's considered a cancellation for the two people moving to another room since the new room has to be a new reservation. Each room gets its own reservation number, but then they just linked them for me right away and I see both rooms under my account.
