Two reservations for the same night?

I have a question on the best day to have a 1 night stay.

I have a reservation June 16-20 at the Dolphin, bought through Costco. It has 1 3-day PH+ ticket. My name is the lead name and the ticket is linked to me in MDX. The Dolphin is not yet linked in MDX, but I plan to so I can book FP+. I have all 5 of us on the Dolphin reservation so we get the right room size and the rollaway.

I also have a reservation at the Fort Wilderness for June 15 for 1 night. DH and 3 kids are on this and it is a package that includes 4 2-day PH+ tickets. I had to wait to get tickets and the price had increased already, but it had not yet increased as part of a package. So buying the package with the 1 night was cheaper than buying tickets at the new price, plus we’ll have some magic bands. I am not on this reservation at all.

Now I realize that if I moved the Fort Wilderness to June 17, I could save $24 on the night, plus I could use 1 day of parking since our first park day is June 17.

Will having both a package at Fort Wilderness and a room at the Dolphin on the same night cause problems? I booked both packages and I'm the only one here with an MDX account. It’s not a huge savings, so if keeping it on June 15 makes it easier, I will keep it there.

I currently have reservations for a 1 week stay at the Poly and one at Pop for the same exact week. The one I keep will depend on how my finances go, so yes, you can have 2 different reservations involving the same night or nights, IMHO.

This. I often end up making two reservations. Especially if we have one at a deluxe, I make another at a value just in case our finances work out differently than planned. I've cancelled one (room only) at less than 30 days with no problem.

How long did you have the two reservations for? Like did you have both reservations for the same time for months, and then you were okay cancelling as it got closer to the cancellation deadline? And I wonder if it would matter if the two reservations were for same hotel?

I recently had a reservation for the Polynesian and the Pop Century (split stay) as well as a 10 day reservation at the Pop Century. I'd had both for at least 3-4 months. I just recently cancelled the 10 day Pop Century. So yes, it's even possible to do it for the same resort!

Thank you! It sounds like it should work. Although, I don't plan to cancel the Fort Wilderness reservation. Hopefully it doesn't cause an issue. I'm going to go ahead and move it.

You may not save anything. Changes to your package can increase the ticket price.

Dolphin guests already get complimentary theme park parking.

Dolphin guests do pay a nightly rdsort parking fee, even for self-parking.

I wondered if parking was included, but could not find that anywhere. After reading your reply, I searched again and did finally find where it was included for the theme parks. That is great to know! thank you.

When I start to make the change online, it doesn't appear to change the price of the tickets. But, perhaps leaving it makes the most sense. I can think of it as $24 to get 1 day earlier FP+ bookings. Since we are limited in our days, making them a day early might make the $24 well worth it.
