1. How long is the walk from the entrance of HoJos to the ticket gates at DL in minutes?

2. Can you book using the Entertainment book rate more than once in the same year? I'm looking to book Jan's rates but am also hoping they'll offer Ent rates again in early June when it will be warm enough to enjoy Castaway Cove!

Thanks for any info!

1. Approx. 8-12 minutes, depending on how fast you walk.

2. Yes, you can use it as many times as it is available during the year.

So sweet, avalon. :goodvibes

Important to remember that our timing was slow walking to the parks, b/c I had hobbled myself with blisters on the balls of my feet, on my toes, and even going in between my toes. Not at the parks, the night before (dern those "cute" shoes). So I was in pain and moving much slower than normal. :upsidedow

Moral of the story: Never EVER wear cute shoes at DLR! :lmao:

Bumbershoot did a really nice documentary of the walk to and from HoJo, with pictures, here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1766695&page=9 This is the shortcut, and it gives you the exact location of where to go, to stay out of the crowds on Harbor and save a couple of minutes.

Hope that helps!
I have read that and read that and looked at the pictures a billion times. I can't figure it out! I must be stooopid or something. LOL It's confusing me I think because at one point it says "since we're heading to hojo's" yet the end result is at DL? *so confused*

:) The first pics are looking at the direction you would walk when leaving the park and showing how it is sooooo less crowded that going down the middle and crossing right that the enterance where ART pulls in. The the rest of the pics show the walk from HoJos to DL beginning with the cross walk right at the corner where hojo's is.

Talking about this post:

It's two separate ways, pre-nap and post-nap. The important phrase is "Now, going backwards..." :) (I've just edited in some more space and some bolded asterices so it's a bit more obvious)

The first few pictures show the way out, if you're going to walk on the "other" side of Harbor back to HoJo. If you're at any other nearby Harbor hotel, you have to cross at the crosswalk, unless you want to backtrack. But if you're staying at HJ, you can walk along the less populated, Disney-side, no-hotel-side, er, side of Harbor.

Sometimes people get really confused and worried about where to go, and just end up following the crowd so they don't make a mistake, so those first few pix were the view from outside of bagcheck, going back to HJ.

And then after "going backwards", it was heading back to DLR again on the "other" side of Harbor. Again the pictures were mainly to empower people so they can go in the correct way, and not get scared and follow the crowd. Doesn't work if I've confused people by not separating things properly! Hey wait, I did that once another time (didn't separate quotes and thoughts correctly) and it came out so wrong that I got in trouble by a mod, thinking I was writing the exact OPPOSITE thing that I was actually writing! Obviously I have a penchant for making things confusing. Whoopsie.

But that's not even the good, time-stamped one!

This and that are the posts where I really looked at the times on my pictures as we walked in the morning from HoJo to DLR. On the populated, busy, driveway-filled side of Harbor (that everyone else walks on).

And that's only one way. :)

Hope that helps.

Oh, the cute shoes...I was meeting up with Toocherie, going to a DVC event! I felt the need to look cute. 'cuz nothing says cute and financially-savvy-enough-to-own-DVC like swollen feet with blisters rising by the time you get from HoJo to GCH and you still have to cross over to PPH, while wearing brand new $14 Payless shoes! :lmao:

Great instructions and pics!! you rock! :thumbsup2

I have a question... Sorry (blonde moment) :confused3 Do we turn at the sign in order to avoid going past the people coming from the main walk way in order to enter Disney?

I remember walking this way a few times last year, but we also end up going into the masses of people anyway. The Manchester walk way is right by Mimi's right?

oh yeah I am one of those people who hate to get lost and end up following other people meanwhile hoping they know where they are going...

This sign is on one of the big monorail supports you can see in front of hubby here.

I stopped taking pictures that would have been extremely helpful for some reason :confused3 so after you see that sign, you need to turn in where you see taxis. There are big yellow textured crosswalk things that lead you through. You end up walking parallel to the hordes who have crossed at the normal spot, but you haven't been bumping into them as they stopped randomly, you haven't had to wait for huge delivery trucks trying to get into hotel driveways, and you haven't had to wait for the crosswalk itself.

Of course you do end up all at bagcheck together, but you might have gotten a couple minutes ahead of people, or at the very least you haven't been jostled by humanity even before you've gotten in the parks. :goodvibes

Great!! I know exactly where you are talking about now! You are great! :worship:

I can't wait to go this way, this is going to be a huge shortcut! Good point not having to walk slow because the person in front is walking slow, and the delivery trucks! I forgot about those! :sad2:

Thanks!!! :woohoo:

Oh, man, Molly, I'm compiling my own list of helpful links, and a bunch of yours are one there. That pictoral thing is right up my alley, 'cause I gotta see it to believe it. I'm so visual.

I felt the need to look cute. 'cuz nothing says cute and financially-savvy-enough-to-own-DVC like swollen feet with blisters rising
:lmao: I felt so bad for you when I heard how crippled your feet were. Dang those Payless shoes; they look so cute but they can be lethal!

Wow, looking at that picture you took on the "regular" route on the east side of Harbor, the difference between the crush of bodies is amazing. One side, wall-to-wall people. Other side, deserted. Hmmmm... where would I rather be?

Being the visual person I am, I also like the aerial photo map from "How Far Is It" that shows the shortcut route: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=88663

8-10 min. tops using the shortcut. We LOVE the shortcut!!!!!

We used the Ent card oh....about 6 times from Jan-July of 08. It's a GREAT discount!!!!

Have fun!!!!!
