Two Questions....Tax Rate/Peak Season Surcharge

Does anyone know the tax rate at the WDW restaurants?

Will the buffets be more $$$ from July 18-25, 2010? I know that a peak surcharge is added sometimes...also, if it is added, is it typically a flat rate at all the buffets? Like a $4.00 increase pp? Would the kids charges go up as well (at the buffets?).

have a tax rate on food of 6.5%. The All Star resorts and World Wide of Sports are in a different county and have a 7% tax rate on food.

Disney had not made public the dates of the seasonal surcharges this to my knowledge. There are dates published for when the regular dining plan will cost a little more but who knows if they exactly coincide with non DDP increases.

Based on the DDP rate increases and the last couple of years I suspect that you will have to pay a surcharge. It is typically a flate rate and applies at all you can eat type places like buffets and family style places like LTT and Ohana.

Do the costs of the DDP and DxDP include tax? I know you have to pay gratuiuty OOP, but is tax included in the per night rate for the dining plans?

I am glad you said that I never think of that when trying to figure out the savings of the ddp. I save even more than i thought. LOL

Disney hasn't made the upcharge/surcharges public, but they have been loaded into the computers since December. There has already been an upcharge/surcharge period at Disney last month for Easter, so chances are, Disney will not make the dates for the summer public, as they more than likely would have done so for Easter.

This year the peak season is from beginning of June - mid August:

Adults $4.00 + tax
Child $2.00 + tax

A good trick is to make a dummy ADR on the website - do it for your exact date in July which is peak season for something like CRT, and then compare it to an ADR for Sept which is non-peak. This works because CRT is a paid meal - if you are on the DP though it probably won't work as it will be looking for your dining credits. Give it a try!

Lastly, for people doing the DP (the above is for cash guests), you will be subject to a peak season DP charge of $46.99/adult (not sure about children) for this same time period.
