Two Questions: Fast Passes and May Park Hours!

It's been a while since I've been to Disneyland now and I have a few questions that I hope haven't been asked too recently.

1. Are we still able to use fast passes after the time stamped on them? I know FP's always said something like return at this time, but it was never a problem to return later than that time and I would like to know if this is still the case.

2. I'm thinking of going the first week in May and noticed the park hours are quite short. They close at 8, is this normal or does this mean there is some kind of event going on? I checked earlier for grad times and didn't notice any scheduled for that week, but not sure if I maybe missed something? Or are they just anticipating low crowds and that explains the short hours?

Thanks guys!

1) Yes, you can still use FP's after the time printed on the ticket.

2) In the off season, it's not uncommon to have DL park hours from 9 or 10 AM to 8 PM.

The good news about the park closing at 8 is that since it will probably be a low crowd day you may not even need FP. Go ahead and grab the ones you can earlier in the day (they may not all be working if it's slow) and then use them later, when, and if, it gets busier. You can plan on any Friday being more crowded, later in the day, as AP get off work.

Have fun!

I've noticed some odd hours the beginning of May as well, leading me to believe something is going on. 8pm closing days during the week during off peak season isn't odd in itself, but no park entertainment at all and a closing time of 11 instead of 12 on Friday makes me think something is going on.

I agree and disagree. While the short hours are normal for an off season month which May mostly is. The entertainement often needs to take a while to fill in.

So don't worry much about the entertainment. It will fill in but may take a bit.

Just note, that F! is in rehab during May and not oddly missing when the dates come up. If it goes as planned will show on weekends, maybe for the 20th-22nd but at least memorial weekend.

Where would I find the refurbishment schedule? Thanks!

I think the refurbs can be found by clicking the daily schedule. But did you notice that Saturday the 7th Disneyland is only open until 5? Something is definitely going on.

Saturday May 7 is the premiere for the movie Pirates 4. Thats why the odd hours....and the super spike in hotel rates, lol. Thank heavens I already had our hotel reservation locked in....we leave that morning so we'll miss all the chaos, but just for fun I checked the hotel rates and they have almost doubled from what I reserved just a month ago.

Early May hours are always a bit shorter, though Saturday's closing is obviously much earlier than normal because of the event.

Shorter hours but the crowds are seriously low (except for probably the weekend of the event) so you don't need as many hours to get everything you want to do done! The sad part is that there isn't much else to do in that part of town after closing, lol. Oh well, early to bed, makes one healthy wealthy and wise....1 out of 3 ain't bad.

Well, yeah, that's where I've seen them too (and in my MouseSavers newsletter), but since most of May isn't posted yet, I'm curious about Skiingfast's post:

That post was the first I was hearing about the Fantasmic! refurb, so I'd like to know where the info came from. If the schedule is posted that far in advance somewhere, I would like to be able to see it.

So far it doesn't show on the refrubishments on the DL daily schedule. After the 24th of April, the entertainment schedule is filled in, until May. But if you look you will notice full entertainment through April but F! dissapears.

The May schedule has yet to fill in. It does show any entertainment. All that it shows for rehabs is the long term projects. Splash, ST and MM to GSS conversion.

Sorry I can't provide a confirming link, I found this out by way of a phone call to Disney. I expect a fan site will soon catch wind of it too.

Thanks skiingfast. I was hoping there was a good online source that I didn't know about yet... Do you know about any other not-readily-available info that we should know about? My group will be there mid-May (17-20).

Nope. It was more or less by chance that I stumbled into the F! refurbishment.

At one time I had gotten into a forbidden(non public) webpage that had DCL pricing details. Wish I could of found it for 2011. I had bookmarked it, which was lucky because I didn't know I found it and would of never found it again.

Other than message board rumors and speculations, is there somewhere official that has announced this date as the premiere? Thank you.

I thought I had seem something official from Disney on the POTC 4 premiere but could not find it. The fact that Disney's schedule has DL hours on May 7 from 7AM-5PM confirms to me that it will be May 7. pirate:
