I am considering getting the DDP for our next trip. The problem is my mom and I always split Table Service meals. So will they allow us to use only one credit (one meal) and pay out of pocket for the extra drink? My husband will be traveling with us and would be using a credit of his own.

Generally yes. Via Napoli won't, and there may be others so always ask before ordering. But given the way you order, the Dining Plan isprobably a bad value for you.

I wouldn't say it's a bad value for you - it might work out really well - you could have 2 table service meals each day at different restaurants (breakfast and dinner) and use your QS for lunches - and if you're splitting the entree at both breakfast and dinner, you'd come out just right for your plan. Or, considering that many people spend the whole check-in and check-out day at the parks/on property, you'd have enough credits to cover you - I wouldn't say you should go deluxe with it, but it sure couldn't hurt to get the plan - you could also splurge on a few 2 credit meals (like the Aloha show or Hoop De Doo, Citricos, CRT, etc) and use the split meals to offset.

DD and i are going in two weeks - and we have DDP. We plan to eat at more than the allotted number of TS restaurants and plan to split entrees at a few of them so that we can do that - we've been to WDW multiple times and enjoy taking our time and sitting down for meals, so it's a great way for us to do that.

Via Napoli will not let you split, nor will any buffet, family style restaurant - so plan accordingly with your credits. We are going to Via Napoli, but will pay out of pocket there so that we can split a meal. We'll have no trouble using our credits up even so -

Almost all of the TS restaurants where you order from a menu will let you use one credit to share a meal between 2 people. The only one that consistently will not let you do this is Via Napoli. There have been several recent posts that Tutto Italia, which is owned by the same company, has started enforcing this limitation as well. It is best to ask before ordering at any restaurant because occasionally there have been reports of other restaurants or servers not allowing it - typically one of the third party venues.
