was at the MK yesterday.. When i was at the TTC, apparently someone had abandoned a stroller with a small soft side cooler and there was security with a bomb sniffing dog all over it...and later in the MK i saw a lady changing her daughter's diaper out on a bench nera Cindarella castle. This little girl was past baby and toddler stage, she looked like she should be out of diapers to begin with. Mom was sitting on the bench and had her wiggling daughter on her lap while changing the childs diaper, right there on a bench for all to see, which i think i inappropriate,,come on there is a baby care center and restrooms for that!

There's a time and place for everything (turn...turn...turn). :rolleyes1

But as Yoda would point out, "Judge someone by their size or age one should not." The child in question might be special needs... not saying that public diaper changing is OK for anyone, but it might have been an emergency, and maybe Mom thought she couldn't wait to find a restroom.

Gross behavior is everywhere these days, and it seems people have just forgotten the meaning of propriety (noun - 1. conformity to established standards of good or proper behavior or manners. See etiquette). (That's one of my favorite lines from any movie!)

The bomb sniffing dogs usually come out when there's anything left in an open space. We've seen them come out for a backpack on a monorail, and a stroller left in the middle of the walkway near the entrance to Adventureland. At least they're on the up and up of keeping guests safe.

Also, there have been many threads on here about disgusting things seen at Disney, changing diapers on benches, peeing in bushes to keep parade spots. Yes, it's unsanitary and there are baby care centers and changing stations in the bathrooms, but what happens when people don't know about them?

oh yes, believe me, i have seen moms changing their kids in restaurants at Disney..ive seen it all lol and yes i know about the bomb dogs and the protocal.(I am a CM) so yes, ive seen alot lol

i dont know why people still amaze me by doing this stuff, but they do..lol No, the little girl was not special needs,( mom was just lazy) she was running around and laughing and talking with her sister. Ive seen moms changing their kids in restaurants and ive seen moms breast feeding their kids in restairants, i mean moms chest fully exposed breast feeeding while dining in a restaurants..

You will be fried for breastfeeding comment, put your flame suit on. Breastfeeding is allowed everywhere nowadays, just donot look if you are not comfortable but baby has right to eat.
as for changing kids, just because kid was running and smiling does not mean she had no problem and did not need diaper, changing it outside bathroom however is disgusting.

With all due respect, there's no possible way you could know if there was or wasn't something wrong with the child. My son looks extraordinarily healthy to the untrained eye but he isn't. However, I agree, changing in public is disgusting. I've been changing DS's diapers for years now and nobody would ever even know he wears one. I want to ensure he feels I've protected his dignity.

Wow, some crazy comments here!!OK, For the changing the baby, kids are all diff ages for potty training, I myself wait with all my kids till they are ready to go on there own, so if they are 2 or 4, its up the each individual child, I don't push them to go, as for the breast feeding, the baby has to eat too!!!The problem with that is our society has made the breast to be such a sexual thing, that a baby eating ,the main design for what a breast was made for has become gross! How about you cover your food plates, cause i don't wanna see what you are eating, to me, Its so dumb, don't look!!!
Back to the changing thing, I have 4 kids, so taking them all in the bathroom to change the little one, is just not possible, and I don't trust the others to stay outside by themselves, its just not safe. So, I change them where I can find a spot, now, in a restrant, thats just a little gross, but I am not gonna let my little one sit in there poo till i am finished eating, thats just mean, im sorry!:confused3

Bathroom stuff should be done in the BATHROOM! It's disgusting to change your child in a restaurant or any public area other than a restroom. How gross! Also, I would never expose my childrens genitals to passerbys.

I can kind of understand the breastfeeding comment, bc yes the kid has to eat, but you don't have to flop both breasts out, or not cover up somehow or at the very least be descrete about it...... its not that I'm sexualizing the breasts, its that I don't feel the need to expose my kids to stuff like a bare breast of a someone other than myself and the woman having a little decorum about how to breastfeed in public.... I see women do it all over in all kinds of situations, and most of them, if you didn't REALLY look, you'd never know what they were doing.... so to say someone has to have their entire chest exposed to breastfeed is taking it a bit far......

And NO I am NOT trying to say they need to leave or go to a bathroom or anything like that, its just that they could have some thought about what they are doing, you know, much like changing a crappy diaper at the table and exposing gentials to everyone......

I'm guilty of the diaper changing OUTSIDE of the bathroom. But NEVER in a restaraunt! That's just crazy! Who has time to try to find a baby care center when you are all the way across a park?? The ladies bathrooms I went in only had a couple changing stations, and my child would have NOTHING to do with laying on those things. Plus I don't want her laying where a diarreah diaper could have been changed! BLEHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! Dis keeps things pretty clean, but I'm not chancing that! There were no disposable covers to lay on it in any bathroom I went into. I would just pull her over to a secluded area where no one could see. Change her in her clean little stroller on her clean little changing pad and off we go. I don't "expose" my little girl for everyone to see. DH would stand beside to help hide her. Anybody letting them run around with no diaper/underwear on needs to be reported to Dis staff.........that's just rediculous.
Breastfeeding is whole other story. Women can't run and hide every time their baby needs to eat, but they should be a little discreat when boys are around at least. There's no need in flouncing them around for all to see.....Baby's R Us has plenty of covers to go around :thumbsup2

I never understood why breastfeeding a child was demonized. I mean, come on! One of the first things we do in life is suckle a breast. How did nurturing an infant become uncouth?

I have no sympathy regarding the breastfeeding bit. Breasts are for feeding babies first and foremost. I've never seen a nursing mom purposely expose herself just because she feels like it. I imagine if there's some "overexposure" going on it's almost always an accident or nursing inexperience or an ill-equipped top. It happens. It's just a breast; if it's not being sexualized then kids aren't being "exposed" to anything other than a body part.

I agree that diaper changing is gross in common areas due to the germ issue. There's no way of knowing whether or not a child has issues or not, and lots of kids are slow to potty-train. My youngest sibling took 3 years. It happens.

I didn't demonize it, you didn't finish reading apparently.... I said there is NOTHING WRONG WITH IT..... BUT THERE IS NO GOOD REASON FOR BOTH OF A WOMANS BREASTS TO BE SITTING OUT FOR THE WORLD TO SEE....... is that easier to read???

The person directly below me posted almost the EXACT SAME THING

I guess I'm guilty of being a disgusting and bad parent.

We've changed our kid on a park bench not only at Disney, but at other places. Sometimes, there isnt' time to make it to the bathroom, there are always situations.

We put down a pad, bag the diaper, and wipe up the area we changed her on.

I can't believe I"m going to say this. . . People bring their children to DisneyWorld. Children often make messes in their pants that need to be addressed IMMEDIATLY. Children that are breast feeding are on a schedule (as is the mother's breasts quite frankly), they get fed on that schedule. If these things make YOU uncomfortable, I suggest you

A: don't look at it
2: consider how uncomfortable it makes the mother to have to partially expose herself (it's not like it's mardi gras with tatas flying for beads everywhere.

if I change my kid in the bathroom at the changing stations then passerbys are going to see my kids genitals. If its not a #2 then I don't have a problem with changing her outside of the bathroom. I'm not gonna stop in the middle of a crowd. We have also mastered being able to change my kids standing up so its a pretty swift processes and I don't have to worry about them laying on germs.

I would be remiss if I also did not mention "everyone poops"

They even wrote a book about it.

I am not saying that women shouldnt breast feed in public, not at all...what i am saying is, imagine a completely topless woman sitting at a dinner table at a reestaurant feeding a baby.that is the thing i am talkimg about..most women remain with their tops on, and cover where the baby is eating from..there IS a difference. Now if u want to walk around in your home topless and feeding, fine..but not in a restaurant.
And my niece has two kids, both in diapers and she manages to take them to a restroom or babycare center when they need changing...why is it so dificult for others to do???

Why cant you take 4 kids into the bathroom with you! There is absolutely no reason that one can not find a changing area or go to the baby centers. I just got back from WDW and there are bathrooms everywhere.

And yes breasts are made for feeding, I BFed but I never exposed my breasts. I managed to BF in public and do it discreetly.

See above... I have 2 kids and have cleaned multiple messes and I have never had to change them that immediately that I could not find a moment to find a bathroom to do it in. I even had a big boy who outgrew the changing tables quite quickly. I became quite adapt and changing him and never had to do it in public.

Once again BFing can be on a schedule but it also can be done discreetly. Buy the correct garments, use a cloth, or go somewhere private.
