Two moms get away to act like teenagers...or do they? The End! (Feb 18-21, 2011)

Yay for you taking your hands off the bar on the last ride!

Disney.....it makes us do things we never thought we could. :lmao:

Four times is pretty impressive, I have to say.

Awesome TR so ar. I love the pics you took. Also I love the title.....very cute :-)

Thanks for reading along. Vickie always comes up with great titles!

Very cool TR. Have added to my favorites. Hope you had a nice trip! I'm sure we will all find out!

Of course we had a great trip, we were together.:goodvibes

Hey, I wasn't holding on to the bar, I was holding on to the camera. I never realized Vickie had never let go of the bar, I always do. Well, I may not for awhile, I rode with some friends a few months back and was trying to hold on to my hat and the camera and was pulled wrong, making my back hurt. Not fair!

Did we ride 4 times? Geez, I must be getting old and forgetting everything. (Ok, my cursor keeps disappearing off into noman's land, so this may be a weird post.)

You are probably wondering why I took a pic of the number 13?:confused3 That is what row we were on. :lmao: We just knew we were doomed.:rotfl:

But it was a great ride, funny that we should be on row 13 and Vickie takes her hands off the bar.

And here is my redneck pic

I think Vickie got a phone call at this point or I just decided to stop and take photos, which may be what happened because I love water reflection photos.

Eventually we moved again, and I just love these guys

One good thing about random shots, you can use them to help you remember details for a TR. Here is my random pic to help me remember we took the bus back to BLT

And Vickie was right in her post, I was probably FBing, or I remembered to let my hubby know I made it.:rolleyes1

Vickie, back to you!

Okay, for the record, I just meant that everyone will hear a total of 4 stories about our 2 rides on EE!! :lmao: I should have known Melissa didn't need to hang on to the bar -- that's why she gets good photos of the ride! :thumbsup2

I am grateful for that, because I am normally so white-knuckle gripped...and I did not remember it was #13!! :scared1:

I did a photobook of this trip, and according to the book, the only reason we went back to the Contemporary was to catch the monorail --

To EPCOT! :woohoo:

Update soon...

The sun was going down as we made our way to Epcot via monorail. I was wanting to see the Tronorail (is that what it was called? can't remember) -- but we didn't get it to the park that time.

I remember making our way down the big ramp...and there's always a predatory instinct in me about who to walk behind, who to walk around, who will run me over if I get in their way, etc...similar to driving. Melissa was right there with me.

When we got to the line for our passes, there was a family right in front of us (wow!)...a father had his son in his arms, and I can't remember how old the boy was...grammar school, I think...and the boy drops the dad's phone.

It's an iPhone. Melissa and I watch as the dad bends down to pick it up with a grimace...and it's TOTALLY cracked beyond repair. The dad is upset, but keeps it to himself...and we just silently sympathized with him. What can you do? Accidents happen, and they are at Epcot. Why get angry over something you can't do anything about, now, right before "fun"? :confused3

It seems like this "dropping" thing carried through a bunch of times with us, and even between us, all throughout our trip -- but this was the most memorable!

What to eat, what to eat? We knew that the big ride lines would be crazy, and we were going to come back later, anyway. Melissa suggested (I believe) that we eat Nachos -- and a Margarita. ... I just came from SAN ANTONIO!! :lmao:

We went over to the new Mexican fast food place (don't remember the name), and there were LINES of people. Crazy. Melissa kept moving over to the right, away from the main thoroughfare...to the last line, which had like, 2 people in it. SCORE!! :woohoo:

We ordered a plate of nachos and one margarita -- to split! Now...where to sit??

There were SO many people...we kept walking, and walking...until we came to Norway, and there was an outdoor sitting area...we climbed over the low wall and snagged an empty table!

ry%3D480

Those nachos were SO good...and so was the drink. :)

ry%3D480

Hmm...to recap, quickly -- have we acted like teenagers so far?? : we teased young children with balloons (yes), lost a camera (yes), ran over to AK to ride one ride, twice (yes), helped a woman find her child (no), sympathized with a dad (no -- I think teens might have gawked, gasped, or chuckled), scarfed a table from another restaurant (yes), and shared an adult beverage (no). Four to three. So far, so good...

Way to go!
I never really thought about it because we don't park hop, but I guess there really isn't a great way to get from AK to EP

And AK isn't really close to ANYTHING. I think there's one time that we had to go to MK so that we could get "home" (no resort to resort!)!

Believe it or not, Epcot was beginning to set up for the Flower and Garden Festival...so some of the topiaries were being set up here and there. We'll get some pictures of these later...

But for now, having finished our meal, we were up for some more drinkage. As we go around the world, what would we have? :confused3

ry%3D400

We decided on Italy, and walked into the wine shop. Melissa had the lemon stuff (not really my cup of tea), and I had some kind of wine that had to do with Roses...seems like someone else in another TR really loved that wine. I thought it was okay -- not over the top. Speaking of over the top, that's how they pour that stuff!! They get those little "glasses" out and nearly pour the liquid right over the rim...it's a struggle to get your gear, your wallet, and the little glass out of the shop (away from bumping people who would rob you of a precious morsel).

I'll try to explain away my terrible pictures by saying I have a cheap camera and it's nighttime.

ry%3D480

We sat down on these benches to enjoy our drink and the beautiful night -- not too warm, not too cold. The men in front of us were talking, laughing -- and at one point, somehow inserted themselves into our conversation. Melissa, do you remember what it was about them, or what they said?? :confused3 I'm getting too old.

ry%3D480

I'm not using my flash, obviously, so this camera tried its best.

ry%3D480

We finished, and decided to venture further into the world showcase. As we came upon Japan, I noticed there was an area in the back that I had never gone through -- in the doorway, there was this fella, who was quite an imposing figure. He had a twin across the way.

ry%3D480

Then, I put my camera back on nighttime mode and got this shot...spooky.

ry%3D480

We didn't go in the store...we weren't in the mood to shop for Kimonos.

Good night, moon...

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

I do believe this is a drink in Melissa's hand...I guess I didn't go for threesy's?

ry%3D480

Tired, and ready to go back to the room, we left before a mass exodus. Melissa decided to go check at the front desk to see if anyone had turned in a camera.

ry%3D480

As my knee was hurting, I sat down in the lobby and checked out everything and everyone.

ry%3D480

No phone, though. Slightly discouraged, but ready to call it a night, we went back to the room. For those of you curious -- there was plenty of room in that king sized bed for two people used to sleeping with someone else!!

...and, I am well-aware that I snore if I don't sleep on my stomach -- I was hoping not to lose my BFF over it!! :rolleyes1

For my part, I slept pretty well, with one exception -- those stinkin' balloons that I loved so much kept rustling around in the corner, blown around by the air conditioner!

Okay, for the record, I just meant that everyone will hear a total of 4 stories about our 2 rides on EE!! :lmao: I should have known Melissa didn't need to hang on to the bar -- that's why she gets good photos of the ride! :thumbsup2

Update soon...

Duh! Now I get it, we didn't ride 4 times, but the readers of this TR were going to. Old age pops up again.

We could have taken a bus to Epcot, but there was another reason to go back to the resort. Silly me thought I could go without some sort of cover, but it was getting a little cool.

Now that I had something to keep me a little warmer, we could head over to Epcot. I love the ride to Epcot on the monorail. Wish it went around the WS though.

And that poor guys phone was cracked so badly. You could tell it was there on the ground.

I had those Nachos one other time with Vickie and they were horrible, but that was before they did all those renovations to Mexico. Not sure how that changed the making of nachos though.:confused3

Now, in case you haven't noticed yet, I try not to disturb people with the flash on the camera, so I am always trying to get shots without the flash. Sometimes it works and sometimes not so much. Can't believe I didn't take any photos until Italy, guess we were having too much fun.

Poor Vickie had to listen to me talk about the trip I had just taken the previous month with the hubby and our tour on Segways. "See those columns, they had us manuever around them..."

I did use the flash for these pics

I think my drink is Lemoncello or something like that and I can never remember the name of the Rose. It's a wine, but bubbles like Champagne. If you are feeling a little chest congestion, that Lemoncello will open you up. It burns.

We stopped to enjoy our drinks and I can't remember what we were discussing when those two guys jumped in to the conversation. I will probably remember about 3am this morning.

My random photo of the statue

I had seen this area before due to the Kim Impossible Adventures I have taken with my son.

We did walk through the store and saw this

:rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

And Vickie did get a drink, here is the proof,

She acted like an adult and had wine, I went for the Lemon Slushie.

Now I thought on this night we rode Figment and saw the Michael Jackson 3D movie. Before doing so, we sat and talked. It was EMH and I don't think I had ever stayed at Epcot for EMH. While sitting on this bench outside of Figment, I told Vickie how Medium ended. I felt bad afterwards that I may have ruined it if she ever got the chance to see it. And she was so mad how it ended.

Or did we ride Figment? I'm sure we saw Michael Jackson though, because I thought I told her it would make her remember the Michael we all loved. But maybe I have become senile (sp?) also.

Got back to the hotel and as Vickie said, asked about my camera, here is my pic of Vickie waiting on me

(By the way Vickie, you said phone in your post. Old age slips us up again.:lmao:)

I slept well, I think balloons woke me up a little also.

Okay, I THOUGHT I had another drink!! :lmao: I don't even remember getting it!

If we did Figment and Michael, why don't either of us have pictures?? I remember seeing Michael...have no remembrance of Figment, other than a general knowledge of the ride. Wow. Are you sure I wasn't passed out? :rotfl:

I do remember the conversation about Medium...I do remember being mad...I don't remember what you said!!! :lmao: So, I guess that's okay...

Conclusion: We were definitely NOT acting like teenagers during this timeframe!!

Sounds like you both had a great time. Glad to hear that surgery and treatment is going well!

There is nothing like a little Disney Magic to help you feel a bit better about things. I lost my job (with Disney) a few years back and took a trip with my college daughter and her friends to WDW. I had a great time, even though I was mad at the company for all of the lay-offs that were happening.

What a great story!! A trip with your BFF...How fun!!!!!!

:welcome: Thanks for following me over to read our story! It's funny how much we'd kind of talked about this is a joking way, and then it just came together! It was meant to be...! :cloud9:

:welcome: Hey, thanks for commenting on our story! We definitely did -- and it is, thanks!

I also had to come back to a place that I had lost my job with a while back...it makes you take a step back and ask yourself who you are. And, WDW is definitely an escape...I think I just forgot about being "cancer girl" for a while, and was just me! :goodvibes

Our second day was Magic Kingdom day!! :woohoo: We weren't really interested, after our late night, in getting to MK in time for Rope Drop, but we did really want to get there early to ride as much as possible!

After so many years, it was a cool feeling to be getting up and getting ready with my BFF -- I don't know how many times, as teenagers, we spent the night over each other's house and took turns taking showers, putting on make-up and getting hair ready. Those "girl" things, you know? :cutie: The things as a mom that your family looks at (unless you have a teenage daughter) as being the "slow" things, or the things that make you, as the mom, get up first so that you don't make everyone late. We got ourselves put together, and then took a morning pic to commemorate the moment!

ry%3D480

We had a blast trying to get that picture!

I think it was at that point that I decided that the balloons in the window needed an upgrade -- let's put them out on the balcony!! :cool1: We wrapped them around the arms of the chairs and the heavy star kept them rooted...the wind blew them around gently -- there was NO missing these babies, waving at you from our balcony!

We had a good laugh at this, again. I was so mean.

As we were leaving, I was feeling kind of ornery:

ry%3D480

Melissa had to go to her truck to get her phone, which was charging:

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

We took the easy walk from BLT to MK. I say "easy", but it was longer than I expected! I was so EXCITED to be at MK!! What would we do first?

ry%3D480

I saw the horse up ahead -- I love these critters. Disney takes such good care of them...

ry%3D480

"Hey, Sweetie -- how you doin'?"

ry%3D480

For a February day, it was absolutely beautiful!!

ry%3D480

As we walked by the bridge, a photographer stopped us and took our pictures in front of the castle. I just have to tell you about this...no pic. :(

We commandeered our way over to Space Mountain and grabbed some Fast Passes...

ry%3D480

...and walked on!

ry%3D480

"Welcome, Space Traveler!!" Why, thank you!! I have come from a galaxy far, far away, to take this trip!

ry%3D480

We were so psyched...I had to attempt to take a pic in the dark.

ry%3D480

We had a great time, squealing one right after the other! Some times I see more on that ride than others -- seemed like this one was the darker ride.

In the shop, I wandered around, looking for something I liked, while Melissa was waiting to talk to the CM about the picture.

ry%3D480

ry%3D480

Unfortunately, they didn't put pictures on our Photopass. Hey, no loss, since we didn't buy the pics, anyway! :rotfl:

Hmmm...where do we go from here??

I think you guys are doing pretty well acting like teenagers!

The wine that you got from Italy is Rosa Regale. I like getting that wine too. Lemoncello is okay, but I get made fun of when I drink that because apparently it makes my nostrils flare. :lmao:

Such a fun trip!! I'm so joining in!! :woohoo:

Hi, Emma! :welcome: Thanks for "tripping along" with us!! :yay:

THAT'S what's it's called!! It was good -- lighter than I had anticipated. What's funny is that in the "stage" area in Italy, I kept seeing other people's abandoned glasses of that wine... :confused3 ...and no, I wasn't tempted!!

(trying to remember if Melissa's nostrils were flaring more than usual... ;) )

Has it really been over a week since I was on here!?!?!?!?! I missed so much!!!!

Resort "stuff": I found the balloon/balcony story hilarious!!! Teasing those poor little children...shame, shame!! :lmao: Keith dropped his IPhone in line at Tower of Terror last year and it shattered so I have so much empathy for that poor dad!!

Animal Kingdom: First I :lovestruc EE too and will fit in as many rides as I possibly can! The queue is so awesome. I think it is Disney Imagineering at its best!! And how cool you got to see the Yeti!! I have too and it is weird how realistic he seems! I love how you pretended to go through the park non-commando! Is that possible? You need to train me on it if it is!! :rotfl:

Epcot: I love Epcot!! I am determined to make it there for drinks around the world. Everytime we go it is too hot to feel like indulging in adult beverages... And the picture from the Japan store??? Interesting and made me laugh out loud causing my puppy to think something was wrong!! :rolleyes1

Magic Kingdom: That sky was beautiful!! And Space Mtn first!! :yay: It is one of my faves!!

Teenagers?: I think so far you are handling the whole "teenage" thing pretty well! And sometimes you behave like mischevious teenagers (ie Epcot....;)) So way too go!!

Am I caught up now? :cool2:

Thank you, we weren't really trying to, just being our ourselves. Young at heart.

Not sure about the nostril's flaring, but I wouldn't be surprised, it does burn.

I remember reading about Keith dropping his Iphone, seems like I thought about that when I saw that one crack.

And I apologize to your puppy.
