Two Moderate Rooms or One Deluxe?

We're planning an early January trip. It will be me, my 10 yo DD, my 65 yo mom, and my 75 yo aunt (mom's sister). (This is replacing an early December trip and I need to change my countdown.)

DD and I go to WDW once or twice a year and we are "commandos" (EE, extra 3 hours at night when available, etc.) although we do take a swim/nap break in the afternoon.

Mom has gone with us before and thinks we're nuts. So, I thought that taking her and her sister would allow them to hang out (or sleep) while DD and I attack the morning and then we could do a slower pace later in the day.

Mom just had open heart surgery earlier this month, so we know we'll have to take things a little easier than usual. Nevertheless, the warm Florida sunshine should help her and we'll be sure to have the doctor's okay.

Anyway, I'm wondering whether having two rooms at POR, for example, is better than getting one larger room at a deluxe? Have any of you traveled with friends or family who go at a different pace? Would appreciate any comments and suggestions.

Thanks!

I suggest 2 moderate resort rooms. Hopefully you can get connecting rooms.

This way you can get up early w/out disturbing them or come back late. You will have more space and 2 bathrooms.

Two rooms, your Mom will tire easily and I suspect your aunt also. Let them take it at their own pace separately. Have a good time.

If your mom is anything like my mom, only deluxe will do!;) We tried a mod with mine - POFQ & it failed miserably. Mine didn't even care for the WL! She's a BC/GF lover! My DD & I did many things without her, like E Ride Nt. & MVMCP, EE, etc..., & she'd hop on the bus & meet us for our scheduled character meals or whatever @ the appointed park for the day - it worked out fine. She loves to stay up late & read, so we'd sack out early some nights & she'd keep her light on, or go down to the lobby to read. However, since your aunt is coming, go for the 2 rooms & request 1 of the newly renovated mansions - Magnolia Terrace smells like Honeysuckle!:p

I would deffinetly go for 2 rooms, the mansions are as close to deluxe as you can get without the price! I bet mom and auntie would enjoy the boat ride to the marketplace while you and DD are doing your commando thing!::yes::

Thank you all. I was leaning to 2 mod rooms and this helped confirm my instincts.

You all are so wonderful to respond. Thanks!

2 rooms all the way. Just the extra bathroom alone makes it worth it!

Absolutely agree with two rooms, and I agree that the Mansions at POR would be perfect. I have stayed there twice with my mother and she loved it, I think it is a very feminine place to stay. We have also had two connecting rooms which was great !

Why two - two bathrooms, two tvs, quiet for them while you are coming and going, plenty of space, and their own beds - which if she just had open heart surgery it is probably wise if she slept in a bed alone.

Suggestion about them cruising to DTD is great and it is a lovely resort to just walk and look at the gardens.

Sounds like a wonderful girls trip - have fun !
