if we arrive to our gate at our home airport and they gate check a bag because overheads are full - will that bag find its way to ME if it has a yellow tag or do we need to pick it up at baggage claim?

If we do airline check in at our resort last day, does the system know if you are entitled to "free" bags ( for example, because you used your airlines credit card)?

If it has the yellow tag, they will deliver it.

They have access to the airlines reservation system, they know if you have free bags, just like if you use the kiosk at the airport.

Why would you have a ME yellow tag on a carry-on bag?

If I were the OP, flying on a smaller aircraft or trying to save bag fees I would definitely have an extra yellow tag with me to put on the bag in case she has to/can check it last minute!

I would always put a yellow tag on a carry on or at least have one with me for the very reason I just said. You get to the gate and overhead bins are full or they ask you to check them because a full flight. Free= yay!!! But not if it means I have to make an extra trip to bag claim. If ME grabs them even when gate checked that's perfect.

As recently as 2 years ago, I found that to NOT be true. It did not recognize I was entitled to free bags so it was a real pain. Glad to hear it has changed.

I had the Delta American Express and didn't have a problem getting the free bags, this was 2 or 3 years ago.

I now pack, and get an extra yellow tag, so that I have one bag I can hand off if they think the overheads will be too full.

If you have checked bags that you want transported but don't have the yellow tags, tell the CMs at the DME area in MCO and they can have the bags delivered using your claim check numbers.

How odd.

I'm guessing about four years ago we flew United home and DH had status enough to give us three 75lb bags each and the RAC system knew it.

Every time we've used RAC they have known that we had free bags, no matter what airline or why. And we've only been going to WDW since late 2010.

It's possible there was an issue with the reservation itself.
