Two keys sticking on my keyboard.. Help?

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 lap top and last night 2 of the keys started sticking really bad.. I don't know what to do to try to clean them..

I thought I read on here once before that some computer keyboards are set up in such a way that you can "pop off" each key individually, but since I can't afford another lap top right now I'm afraid to try it..

Any suggestions?

You can try to use a can of compressed air to see if it will dislodge anything that maybe stuck.

you could just have dirt under the keys.

turn laptop over shake gently. try blowing on the keys so the air goes under the keys.

It is very easy to replace the keyboard on that model. I usually get them off of EBAY but Amazon sells them too.

The keyboard does not need to be changed for just a couple sticky keys. It is a mechanical thing, not an electronic thing.


C.Ann, you could try just taking a sewing pin and sticking it under the keys to dislodge the dirt & dust. Press down the surrounding keys to get better access underneath the keys. make sure the computer is off while doing this.

There are ways to take the key caps off completely, I do it all the time to dislodge cat hair. But, if you can't get the caps back on properly, you won't be able to use the keys at all until you do get them back on. It can be tricky to put them back on.

I had no idea a replacement even existed - or would be so inexpensive! If I don't get the keys to "unstick", I'll definitely buy the replacement.. That would also take care of the letters that I "wore off" and no one else can see anymore..
