Two families - two DVC rooms - one or two MDE accounts??

Hi all!

My family (5 of us) and my sister's family ( 5 of them) are heading down to AKL in June.

I made the reservations with my points - putting their names on their room. I made ADR's for 10 and I can see all of this on my MDE acct. We are approaching FP+ time and are ready to buy park tickets.

Should I get my sister to set up a MDE acct with her new park tickets? Will she be able to connect her resort reservation ( that I made for her)? If she sets up her own MDE acct, can I still make all the FP reservation? (I want to be able to do all of them at once)

Would it be better to keep us all on one MDE acct?

Sooooo many questions!! Thanks for any advice. I would love to do this tonight and member services is closed.

THANKS!

went with DS and his family last Dec. we found it worked best with 2 accounts. We put ADR's on my account and his park tickets on his account. He allowed me (LOL) to do FP+ so he didn't have to deal with it. But (ADR's , rooms, FP+) all showed up on both accounts when linked up.

I have a big family trip coming up. Total of 13. Trust me, one account. Saves time and frustration

When you kept one account, were you able to link the rest of your family's park tickets or did you buy them yourself? Can my sister buy park tickets and NOT set up a MDE acct? Thank you!

Yes, you can link park tickets bought by someone else to your MDE account (and arrange fast passes for all of you)...I do it this way every trip. Perhaps by now Disney has sorted out the MDE glitches, but when I first started planning trips w/MDE I found having two accounts was a complete nightmare. One account has its issues--I've never yet done a trip (and there have been at least 10) w/MDE w/out at least one glitch...but SO many fewer problems (and SO much easier to address when a problem does arise) w/just one account.

Traveled with a large group last year, all on my points. Each subgroup had their own MDE account. We had to call several times to get everything coordinated between the accounts properly, and it still wasn't 100 percent. If they are folks you don't mind having your MDE login info, I think 1 account would be the simplest. The biggest hangup was photopass, and getting that all coordinated amongst the accounts.

Thank you, thank you!

I think I will stick to one account. When we are in the park, I can just give my sister and BIL my log in info. We are mostly going to be together any way. It does seem much better to keep us all on one acct.

Thanks!

One account will definitely be easier. We had three villas/reservations last October/three MDE accounts (9 people). It was fine and manageable but only after at least two calls.

Definitely one account. And if you call the Disney phone number they are great at linking stuff up if you aren't able to figure it out online. :) We just did a huge family vacation with 13 people (3 separate parties), and they were able to connect everything to one main account that I managed. That way I did fast passes for everyone, etc.

I agree with 1 MDE account for large groups. We've done a group of 13x3 this way and everyone (except me sometimes) appreciated me being in charge. Just always keep the lines of communication open with everyone and have fun!!

We are taking an extended family trip in June with 19 in all. I reserved four rooms all on my DVC points. Three rooms for three families and one room for my immediate family and BIL & SIL. All family groups made their own MDE account. It sort of turned into a big mess. We got together a week ago to talk about FP+ with about 17 of us and I called the technical support phone number. I got the best cast member who I probably spent 45 minutes or longer on the phone with. She straightened everything out. I can see all 19 guests, their tickets etc... The only down side, what ever she did that day to connect everyone to everyone - resulted in a ton of emails. I believe I had 22 emails, but she told us to just disregard them all - so that's what we did. If we want to, we can make FP+ for the entire group or we can just make it for our immediate family. I can see all their tickets, which they linked to their own accounts. Again, the CM was wonderful and so, so patient! So, I think it worked for us to have each family have their own MDE, once Super CM fixed it for us.
