Just completed our first resale purchase at OKW, original contract at BLT. I just noticed on DVC Member site that we have 2 DVC member numbers, one for each resort. Is this the way it is supposed to be or can all contracts be listed under one member number??

if they were titled the same way AND had the same UY month, they should have been folded under the same membership number: XXXXX.01 and XXXXX.02 or whatever.

if you had different name(s) on the title or got different UY months for the 2 contracts (or DVC just didn't notice that you already had a membership), then you will have to use the contracts as though they were for 2 separate members...more complicated but not impossible: learn to use transfers and ask MS to link reservations if you make them with separate contracts.

This has always been "my" worst nightmare with resale. I always buy same UY and title the same. I still always worry that Disney would mess it up.

I know in the end it's not a HUGE deal. However, since I plan to have my multiple contracts for the next 30+ years I would only want them to be under the same member account.

Heck I would even sell a contract if Disney couldn't fix it.

Over 30 years a small inconvenience adds up "for me".

PS. Are you sure its a different member number and not just a different contract number? Do you have to select what member from drop down to switch? Or do you see both contracts when booking with just ".1" difference?

You have 2 different resorts so you can only use one contract at a time until 7 months anyway. Hopefully you have them titled the same so you have 1 sign in. It is easy to use by just picking the one you want on the drop down menu.
If you want to combine points at 7 months you just call member services. We bought this way because we intend to use the 2 contracts for alternating trips. I like just looking at the contract that I intend to use when searching availability.

Do the experts generally think it's better to have everything in one membership account so they can be booked together? It seems like there might be some advantages (Extra transfers) to having two separate memberships.

there are advantages if you are organized. extra transfers, extra waitlists, different UYs to protect vacations at different times of the year.

but if you aren't organized and wind up losing pts because you forgot your second contract's banking window was last week, it can definitely be a bad thing.

depends on the individual. one UY/one membership is easier for most people. but if you are organized and have a plan for using the different memberships separately, sure, do that.

Some advantages and some disadvantages. For new and smaller points members it's almost always far better to have them together. The situations where it can add real value are when you get big enough that you want to take advantage of the differences like extra transfers and wait lists and when there is a specific time of year one is targeting with the new UY. I think it rarely is worth the difference if you find a good deal on a different UY just to take advantage of the deal. Certainly each situation is different, maybe a given UY is better and/or one is thinking of selling the other one anyway.
