Two Different Airlines

I was just wondering if any of you have flown with two different airlines on the same trip? We like that we arrive really early on JetBlue the day of arrival but don't want to be coming back at 8:30PM on return. We have a two hour flight from the airport home. We like the flight that leaves mid-morning on Airtran.
Any thoughts?

People do it all the time- I know I have.

Just remember that if something happens and you had to change your dates completely-- you'll be paying both Jet Blue's fees and AirTran's fees.

It's a little more worrisome to do 2 different airlines on the same day, but I don't worry about doing one to Florida and a different one coming home.

Thanks Haley!!
We will definitely be flying those dates. I am running the Goofy in January. That is why those two different flights seem to work so much better for us. They are also both direct flights which is great.
I am glad to hear that it has been done. My DH thought it would cost a lot more doing it that way but the price difference is hardly anything.
Thanks again!

Do you mean that you have a 2 hour drive from the airport home? Or are you getting on another flight? The reason that I ask is that you do run quite a bit of risk if you planning on getting on another flight and you have not purchased them as connecting tickets. I'm going to assume you mean a 2 hour drive.

You may want to print out both e-tickets (i.e. going and coming home). It sounds like you are driving across the border, but I know I've been hassled once or twice when flying to the US when I've purchased two one-way tickets (since it looks as if I am not planning on leaving the US). I've just shown them my return ticket. Also, this has happened once or twice and I've flown (on two one-way tickets) many, many, many times (i.e. it isn't a common problem, just something to think about).

Other than that (and the aforementioned fee issue - though some airline charge a change fee per direction, so you'd still be dinged twice) you'll have no problems doing what you've suggested.

Yes our drive home is over two hours.
Thanks for the heads up about the border! I will definitely do print off both tickets.
