Will Disney let you book (read: make sure everyone can get on the magical express) 5 adults, 4 children and an infant (e.g. 10 people) in a 2 BR with a capacity of 9? The infant, of course, sleeps in a pack in play.

If they will, would SSR or AKV be the best place to do that? I've stayed at AKV and BLT, and know how much more room there is in the AKV rooms. Are the SSR rooms more similar to AKV or BLT in that regard?

However, this will be a cash pay reservation through CR -- does that change the answer?

It should not since it has the sleeper chair. 2br without the sleeper chair, it would change the answer for a cash booking through Disney.

Does SSR have sleeper chairs now? I know they did not when I last stayed in a 2 bedroom there.

SSR's Treehouse Villas have the sleeper chair and thus can sleep nine but rest of SSR does not.

OP, regardless of which 2BR you choose it will be a tight fit with the number you have. Nevertheless, your better option is AKV Kidani (sleeps up to 9 plus an infant). The SSR 2BR (sleeps 8 plus an infant) is 100 sq ft smaller than the Kidani 2BR (the treehouses are also 100 sq ft smaller than Kidani 2BRs). Also, the SSR 2BRs have only 2 bathrooms while Kidani has three. Kidani also has somewhat larger balconies than SSR. AKV is very close to AK and although far from other parks, the bus has only two resort stops, Kidani and Jambo and we have found buses there to be more reliable and timely than those at other resorts. Note, do not choose the AKV Jambo 2BR as it is the same size as the SSR 2BR and has only two bathrooms. The Kidani building is a booking category.

To add to drusba's comments, all 2BR Villas at AKV Jambo House are Lock-Offs. At AKV Kidani Village, you will have a choice (subject to availability at time of booking) between a Dedicated 2BR and a 2BR Lock-Off.

In the two bedroom villas that only officially sleep eight, you could not have ten (nine plus one under the age of three). These would be SSR, VWL, BCV, BWV and AKV-Jambo House Value Villa. The Value villa would only allow nine if the ninth person was under the age of three. The others would allow a ninth person over the age of three, but no extra infants. You would be limited to nine period. And DVC will not provide bedding or linens for the ninth person.

The villas that officially sleep nine in a two bedroom would be BLT, AKV (not the value villas) and OKW.

Sorry somehow I read the question as AKV specific. So, yes agree with these folks who posted after me clarifying that SSR does not have a sleeper chair.

Cash resevations thru DRC are often more strict than DVC regarding occupancy and will still allow only 8 plus a child under 3 even in DVC resorts with the sleeper chair.

If your reservation request is denied I'd call back to see if another rep is more generous, but be prepared. MS does use different standards than DRC regarding occupancy at DVC resorts.
