We have seen wishes from every conceivable angle in the MK and every possible location around the monorail. This was our first time viewing Happily Ever After and we wanted to really experience the castle projections. With my husband just recovering from back surgery we wanted it to be as stress free as possible. So I did something I swore I would never do. I booked a desert party! Plaza Viewing.

We took an uber to the Grand Floridian around 3:00 where we relaxed over margaritas at Mizner's lounge. After about an hour we took the monorail over to the Polly. Appetizers and drinks at Tambu lounge. Thankfully we were able to get a seat quickly at the bar. Next stop the wave. We had grilled chicken sandwiches and wine for dinner. Now off to the Magic Kingdom!

My plan was to get to the party a little after 8:00. Thanks to a quick wait for the monorail and the new security procedures (screening at the hotel - not at the MK), we arrived at 7:45. Long line to check into the party but it moved fast!

We were escorted to out table by a very nice hostess. She seated us close to the desert displays because she saw my husband using a cane. Nice. She suggested we take a glass of sparkling cider to "mark" our table as occupied. We are mot big desert eaters but I got us a plate of different cupcakes. All very good. The deserts were kept refreshed. Never found the cheese and fruit was going fast.

We were offered to-go cups for beverages (coffee & tea for us) and a box if we wanted to bring deserts to the viewing area. We declined this! We were also told we could come back after fireworks for more desert! We did not.

When ready we were escorted to the viewing area. We chose a spot in the center by a round fence so my husband could lean. It was wet so I went back to get ponchos that were offered.

There were at least two photo pass photograph there. The area was not at all crowded. We had a magnificent view. HeA was awesome.

It was a great experience and I feel it was worth the cost. Even though we are not big desert eaters. It was well done and from start to finish felt special.

Would I do it again. Probably not. It was specifically for our first viewing. Would I recommend it - absolutely!

Sounds like a great afternoon/evening. Lounge hopping and dinner around the monorail resorts topped off with a dessert party and fireworks in the MK... doesn’t really get much better than that for me.

Thanks for the report!

I would say I am the same as you, I wanted my first HEA viewing to be special (as I saw wishes nightly when I worked at CRT).....I used to make fun of people who booked dessert parties, but I also felt like this was worth it. I had like 3 plates of dessert and didn't have to worry about trying to find a spot and I loved taking the drinks with me to the garden! it was perfect!

Thanks for sharing! My DH and I are doing this on our adults only trip this February!

Glad you had a good experience! I'm planning on doing the same with my husband when we go next September--the fee seems like a small price compared to having a nice reserved spot and desserts. :)

Thanks for this report! It makes me feel a lot more confident in investing in this for my DD and I. Opportunely, we’ll just do a quick dinner at Tomorrowland Terrace so we’re nearby for an all-in-one stop for dinner, dessert and HEA! ::MickeyMo

Totally agree that the dessert party is worth it if you don't want to battle the crowds for a great spot to view the fireworks. We did it in May for Wishes and are doing it again for Happily Ever After. The desserts are nothing to write home about but the Plaza viewing area is not crowded and we brought blankets to sit/lay down on while watching the fireworks.

It was damp the night we went so the cast members were handing out ponchos. Lots of families using them to sit on the grass before the show. And we could have gotten a box of deserts to go. Don’t know if they always offer the ponchos or only on damp nights.

Thanks for the report! We are doing this in January. The park shouldn’t be too crowded, but I really hate fighting crowds. We’ve never done a parade or fireworks show because of that (except at the Halloween party). I’m not expecting gourmet desserts. I’m sure we’ll be happy despite the price point for our family of 5.

So now they are offering to go boxes for those of us using the Garden View? Awesome!!

Glad to hear about your good experience. My wife and I will be heading there at the end of the month and to celebrate good things that happened for us in our careers we decided to book our first dessert party. Chose the Plaza garden view too because we are really looking forward to having a great view for Happily Ever After. It will be our first time seeing HEA so we are extra excited to have a great view for it.

Thank you for sharing! We are really looking forward to it and thinking we might be able to snag a few things to nosh on for later sounds wonderful. :)

I think all things Disney have official melded into one big pile of jumbled-ness.

Is Happily Ever After similar/same as the fireworks during MVMCP? We are doing the dessert party for the fireworks during MVMCP...is it similar to HEA dessert party? Gah, am I even in the same park?!?! Must be bedtime for me.

Holiday Wishes are the fireworks that happen during MVMCP. I don't know if the dessert party for those fireworks during MVMCP have any different desserts but it's a completely different fireworks show than Happily Ever After.

Yes, both are in the same wonderful park, Magic Kingdom.

When booking the dessert party, are there multiple reservation times per night or is there just one time to reserve each evening?
