Any ideas for two women who walk slow and take their sweet time getting around? What are some ideas for adult visitors to do. ( no kids with us ):cool1:

sounds like me and my husband---in our 50s and no running around. we really enjoy strolling around world showcase and stopping for some adult beverages and just sitting and relaxing when we feel like it. plus the enteretainment at the various countries is so good that you want to make sure you see that.
go to animal kingdom do the lion king show (fabulous) ride the safari ride. see the finding nemo show. there really is plenty to do without doing high speed rides---but dont miss soarin in epcot.
hollywood studios also has a lot to see --- street entertainers, shows. great movie ride--really good, not fast or scary.
Where are you staying?

We were there a couple of weeks ago for my 50th B-day so I'm now in your demographic. Some ideas:

Epcot: Ditto comment re Epcot World Showcase - we "grazed" our way around and enjoyed adult slushies in France. None of the "rides" - Maelstrom or the Mexican ride are too wild. Several countries offer movies, and the American Adventure is interesting.

POFQ: There is entertainment at POFQ (we stayed about 10 yrs ago) - Scat Cat's lounge. Also, boat to Downtown Disney.

MK: Went on Space Mountain - BF, who turned 50 earlier this year, decreed after the ride that he's too old for it. He loved the Carousel of Progress (I saw it when I was 4 at the NY World's Fair in 1965 and loved it more then, but you do get to sit). Also, the PeopleMover (I think now called Tomorrowland Transit Co.) in Tomorrowland is our speed - you get to ride above Tomorrowland, and into Space Mtn. without having to go on the fast ride. Came upon a performance on Main St. by the "Mary Poppins" crew, which I really enjoyed. Pirates of Caribbean always good.

Resorts: From MK take the Monorail or a boat to one of the MK area resorts for lunch - I like the Grand Floridian Cafe (I can enjoy the ambience of GF without the price of staying there).

Also ditto the Safari ride at AK.

When are you going?

What ever you like to do! ;)

My BFF and I are in our 50s. Sometimes we're semi-commando, but most of the time we're pretty laid-back at WDW! We're on vacation and tired of rushing around all of the time! *LOL*

There is a lot to gawk at while walking (my usual term is "walk & gawk") around WDW. Main Street in MK, in particular. Look at the windows above the shops, stop and listen to the sounds. Other have mentioned the scents, but my sense of smell ranges from non-existent to poor, so that doesn't work for me!

AK is similar, in terms of detail. I love to look at the various textures and colours!

If you haven't done it before and have time during your trip, visit the deluxe resorts on the monorail loop and/or the EPCOT area resorts, which can be accessed via the Friendship boats or walking. Mode of transportation depends on the condition of one's feet at a given time! *LOL*

There are a number of attractions at WDW that aren't thrill rides, but are very interesting, as well as live and 3-D or audioanimatronic shows. In fact, there are fewer thrill rides (Yay!) than most amusement or theme parks, considering the size of WDW!

If either of you has physical limitations or needs to exercise a bit of care (back, neck, etc.), it can be a good idea to do a bit of research. My BFF and I decided to try all of the rides (I haven't managed EE yet, but hope to my next trip), then just not return to any we disliked. I KNEW ToT would be on my list! I do not like being dropped--or the sensation of falling! But I rode it once, just to be sure! What can I say? Stubborn is one of my middle names! :) We found some rides jarred us a bit too much (Test Track and AK Safari). BTMRR also, but we're accustomed to that from Disneyland.

The disABILITIES board is a great reference for any special needs. The moderators and most of the members are accustomed to dealing with all kinds of needs, whether it's special diet, a temporary injury or long-term limitations. They usually know the answer--or where to find it! :)

You can have a wonderful visit at WDW how ever you choose to do it. Strolling is just one possibility! :)

Most of the resorts have art collections (fancier at deluxe). So at AKL ask if they have an art guide and also watch for tours there. You do not need to be stying there to take advantage of them. And then stick around for a meal... Walk, Gawk and Tuck.

knowing when you are going makes a difference. Holiday season one of my favorite things is resort hopping to see the xmas decos and the gingerbread displays.

Spring is the Flower Show.

Fall is Halloweeeeeen! I just like strolling thru MK and lookin at the punkins an such. My favorite time of year.

DH and I sleep in...take our time getting ready. We lay in hammocks and read or nap. Boardwalk at night is lots of fun.

Oy! I really can't wait for the next 8 days to pass!!

I heard you say in your 50's. I didn't hear you say disabled. so (unless I was wrong) I would suggest reserving a "segway around the world" tour. not only is it great fun to ride the segway, you get to tour world showcase while it is empty and hear the guide tell you things about the pavillions you wouldn't know otherwise.
(hubby and I are in our 50;s and it was great fun!)
now, if $ isn't a big problem (cause I already suggested the segway tour) the Keys to the kingdom tour is fun, also.

how about a day at one of the water parks? I could spend all day in one of those lazy rivers!

have fun!!!

Treat yourselves to afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian.

Animal Kingdom - do the safari, stroll though Pangani Forest and Maharaj Jungle Trek . Take your time to wlak around the Tree of Life and look at all the animals depicted.

Epcot, don't miss Soaring - it's one of my fabourite rides, it is not a thrill ride.

Enjoy the floral displays, tour the Land and the Seas Pavillions.

World Showcase - great for adults, food, beerages, shops, and some attractions - the boat ride in Mexico and in Norway.

Hollywood Studios - watch for the street performers, try your hand at drawing in the Animation Studio, see the shows. You might enjoy ther Prime Time cafe.

Magic Kingdom - get a map and a timetable as soon as you get in. Go to the bakery, get yourself a coffee and a croissant or whatever takes your fancy and decide what shows you would like to see if any and plan your day around the times

I'll bet 2 ladies in their 50's would have GREAT fun at Jellyrolls! a dueling piano bar at the boardwalk.
you could have a nice dinner at one of the many restaurants at the boardwalk, yacht and beach club, dolphin/swan, then a few cocktails (or sodas) at Jelly rolls.

fell free to request songs.. they know them all!

I would definitely take the boat from POFQ to DTD - for dinner or shopping or whatever - it is very relaxing.:hippie:

I also recommend tea at the GF if you are ladies that enjoy the "tea experience"!:cloud9:

I would do some signature dining meals if you have the dining plan - or deluxe dining plan. I think I want to do just an eating trip once with the Dxdp!:rotfl: I thought the signature dining meals really were that good!

Resort browsing - pick your favorite and explore!

OK, no secrets here, I will be 50 in March and I LOVE LOVE LOVE taking the parks slow. I can run fast with the rest of those young ones but prefer the slow pace of being "older". My best friend just hit her 30s and she is my pace setter. She LOVES looking around and enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of Disney. The last two weeks we have enjoyed our "Wednesday walks" around DTD. On Monday we will take in AK for our weekly stroll. Living close has its advantages. Anyway, since you don't mention having any difficulty getting around, I assume you are fun loving and "young at heart". Do everything and spend time enjoying your resort. That was the fave part of my adult trips. Enjoying my surroundings.

oh! and take the boat to port orlean/riverside to see riverside bob!

There is plenty to do, my spouse is over 50 so we have been traveling at a slower pace for quite a few years. We basically plan a dinner reservation every two out of three days. We are DVC members, so we usually cook a meal or two in the room on a week long trip. She has RA so she has an exhaustion factor, plus the pain factor. We usually like to do the easy rides like Ellen's Energy Adventury, Mickey's Philharmagic, the movies in China, Canada and the American Adventure, the Hall of Presidents, and other attractions that do not require transfer from a chair.

I enjoy the thrill rides and she brings a book along so that I can enjoy some of the more exhuberant rides. She enjoys shopping so we spend a lot of time in the stores buying things and looking at stuff. Also there is plenty of stuff down at DTD to do and look at....
