Two 1BR, or a 2BR for Mexico in 2007

Just wanted to run something by the DVC folks. We are toying with the idea of going to Cancun summer 2007. It looks like 8 people will go with us. Would it be a good idea to try to get the "Royal Hotels"? Also would it be easier to get one 2BR, or two 1BR to accomodate all persons involved??

Also, anyone stayed at those resorts and how was it???

One more question:

1. Anyone have suggestions to a nice beach place, but with "resonable" airfare from Atlanta?? I have NO FF miles, so that is out. Also looked at Hawaii, but
$$$$!!!!
What about St.John, or Bahamas/etc...???
