Twisted musicals...

Shock Treatment - horrible (and not in a good way ) sequel to Rocky Horror
- Nothing in it make allot of sense - Janet is now brunette and an octave lower - but the music is good and a TV station takes over their Home town of Denton. I like the title song and video as well as Janet's song about herself. It was something about 'the two of me'. Cliff De Young as Brad and his twin brother. Jessica Harper is Janet.

Phantom of the Paradise - a Rock opera by Paul Williams. This one really blows but I love it cause it was filmed in my home town and they used locals. In one scene there is a long close up of a young lady sitting on the hood of a VW bug. Under the hood is bomb and she blows up - That was big sis and it sums up her acting career. This movie also, strangely enuff, also stars Jessica Harper? Paul Williams plays Satan, Hmmm.

and The best for Last "STARSTRUCK" an Australian 80's new wave musical. I must have seen this like 5 times at the Inwood (local art movie house) in the 80's. It has a band called the Swingers singing the title tune. I bet this is barely watchable today but I LOVED this movie and soundtrack. It has big gay swim number around a pool.

And this one you'll have to youtube it your self - 'Starstruck - Tough' I'm not posting the link b/c 1:I am being hyper sensitive to posting any offensive material due to the smoking at the start of the clip and 2: as I viewed it realized it really really REALLY ( I mean really) bites and I just have blame 'youth' as the reason I ever watch the film.

These happen to be movies - but I happen to love every moment of:
  • From Justin to Kelly
  • Grease 2
  • The Apple
Most would rate them as 3 of the worst movies ever. Oh well, I guess I don't always fit the mold.

How could we forget-
You Can't Stop the Music
the Village People musical.

OMG! I LOVE Grease 2!!!!! It's so delightfully bad! And the music is so catchy. Perhaps I'll torment the co-workers today and play the movie soundtrack here at work. Yep. Just put it in the CD player . . . .

How could we forget-
You Can't Stop the Music
the Village People musical.

Okay, this is another one that while very bad, I count as a guilty pleasure. I mean the song about Milkshakes? Classic! :rotfl2:

I was just coming to post that very movie.

I watched it today. It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo bad it's good.

It was directed by Nancy Walker (real name: Anna Myrtle Swoyer - can you blame her?) who is better known for her Bounty Quicker-Picker-Upper commercials.

Personally, the construction worker is my favorite -- David Hodo.

Wally, you beat me to it. Well played.

The First Nudie Musical. Cindy Williams and a definitely twisted movie. Dancing replicas of personal body parts...need I say more?

Sweeney Todd was the one that got me hooked on Sondheim and Broadway in general (to a limited extent) in the early 90's. While I loved the visual style that Tim Burton used for the movie, I really didn't like the way the story was told or how the humor didn't work. However, I love the original Broadway version because it's full of contrasting ideas that just work together: It's an opera that deals with murder, gore and (dark) humor.

Sweeney used to be my favorite, but it now ranks second to another Sondheim masterpiece, Sunday in the Park with George. I loved it from the first time I heard the soundtrack with Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters, but I saw it on Broadway in March and was blown away. It's been updated with amazing digital effects, which made the 2nd act 10 times more effective than the original version, IMO. And, as with most Sondheim works, SITPWG is a "little off". ;)

Anything Frankie and Annette on the beach:)

Gee - I always think of her as - Ida Morgenstern,
the mother of Rhoda Morgenstern.

So a few months ago, I was workgin in the back office and listening to a mix CD I had made with about 12 hours worth of MP3s. One of the songs happened to be "Reproduction." One of the managers came by when it was playing, and I muted it thinking I was going to get yelled at.

Her response: "I can't believe you are listening to that at work! Put it back on and turn up the volume so I can hear!"

:lmao:

If you want something that's disturbing, I recommend anything by Andrew Lloyd Webber. :scared1:

*shudders*

Here are 2 that only few know about...but boy are they so wrong they are right!

Upside Down - the Poseidon Adventure musical - it played in Chicago for about 6 months, and yes, they did make a soundtrack. "Just Panties" sung by the Linda character is classic.

and

Silence the Musical - based on Silence of the Lambs. some of the stuff was done by Hunter Bell who just closed on Broadway in Title of Show. I only heard parts of this musical (like the song "it puts the lotion on")...but can just imagine where it went from there!
