Hi,
DD is a senior in HS, but has her college choices narrowed down to two now. I would love to buy her new sheets for her dorm room since there are alot of sales going on now. But, since she's not 100% decided, I'm torn. One of her college choices has standard twin beds and the other has the twin XL size beds in the dorm. Is there really that much of a difference ? Will standard sheets fit an XL bed does anyone know ?
Thanks so much for any help.

I don't think standards will fit an XL, but an XL will fit standards! :)

Thanks.....I wasn't sure how much difference there really was. Someone said that those knit jersey (standard sized) sheets might fit an XL because they stretch ? Maybe I'll play it safe and just get the XL (which are harder to find too). Thanks again.

I got twin XL sheets (jersey knit) for college. It would be a great idea to get twin XL sheets because they also fit a standard twin bed, but I'm not sure about vice versa. The jersey knit ones do stretch a bit, but I think your best bet would be to get XL sheets.

I've been using the same twin XL sheets (that I bought in '03) on all the twin beds I've used since I moved out of my dorm. :)

I have a twin XL bed right now (yay senior in college) and I can tell you that standard sheets wouldn''t fit the bed. I would get the XL ones, that way they will fit both types.

Tell your daughter good luck on the college choices!

i know i have XL twin mattresses at my school and i tried regular sheets just cuz was curious and yea they dont fit...not even close to be honest...get XL sheets cuz you can always tuck it under:thumbsup2

They will also have big sales in the early summer through August. XL sheets are very easy to find then.

correct. I can't believe I'm actually doing this, but the company store has a large selection. Order now or they'll be backordered when you want them!

just go to thecompanystore.com and take a look

Everyone has been such a help....appreciate it.
Thanks for the well-wishes swimlib ! (good luck in your senior year !)
She's definitely favoring one strongly.
XL sheets it is :thumbsup2

Just in case you haven't found something yet, while regular twin sheets won't fit the XL beds, I've always used a regular twin sized comforter for my XL dorm beds, and it's never been an issue and I've never felt like it was too short. This makes life a little easier, because the regular comforters are usually a bit cheaper (and there are more choices!) than the XL comforters. :)

I also found that the regular sized sheets usually aren't long enough for the college twin beds so going with the bigger sheets is the best bet.
