For my DM's 50th we would like to stay at our family holiday home at Champion's Gate during Easter 2017 and then go onto a coastal resort for perhaps 4 days? We would like to be able to drive between the two and it not take too long- does that sound doable? Our party is going to range in age from 2 and a half years old to 70 plus and we would like to stay in a really nice resort. In fact we would probably choose to go for less time and stay in a better quality hotel rather than stay in an 'average' resort for more time. Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Anna Maria Island is lovely but can't recommend a resort.

We enjoyed disney's vero beach, lots of resort activities for all ages. But the beach itself isn't a patch on clearwater side.

I would suggest the Gulf Coast.

Previously I would have recommended Longboat Key and The Longboat Key Club however during this spring/summer their beach got washed away :scared1: It went from being about 30m wide at high tide to there being no beach at all at high tide.

We have had a night there every summer for the last 3 years but I don't think we will this time - I think we are going to have to find somewhere else.

Go to Cocoa Beach on the Atlantic Side . Stay at one of the Hotels near The Fur Points by Sheraton

Why ... well there is plenty of things to .... Beach ... trip down the road to Melbourne,.. Patrick Air Force Base.( nice beach )

North of Cocoa Beach is Kennedy Space Center & a wild life nature reserve .....

An Air boat Ride at Midway Airboats at Christmas ( Hwy 50 ) & the replica of a wooden fort ( Fort Christmas )

It would be a straight drive from Champions Gate ( Start I-4 then Hwy 417 & Hwy 528

About 2 hours drive or less

Lots of places to explore & things to do

The Atlantic beaches in April will still have cold water if you are planning on going in the sea - the Gulf side will much warmer and is a similar driving time. There is plenty to explore on both coasts.

Excellent, thanks so much for all your suggestions. I'd actually love to do a Disney Cruise for a few days but I'm guessing that's going to be way too much i comparison. So now I'm leaning towards the Clearwater side I think- now just to consider hotel choices!
