TWILIGHT vampire book!!!!!

No Spoilers..just general observations.

Good Lord..we're just in from the movie..and I think DD and I both are just in a daze right now.

We started the night at Macaroni Grill. We went there with some friends to order Mushroom Ravioli..ala Bella.. ..and then got to the theater around 10:00pm. I was indeed glad we got there so early because we were already pretty far down the line of people waiting to get in.

We scored some great seats, and with our excitement for the movie at an all time high, the time passed really quickly.

It was a lot of fun seeing the movie with a theater full of Twilight fans. Nobody misbehaved in any way. It was just a lot of laughs and sighs and AWWWWWS...all at the same time!

We're still trying to figure out if we loved it..or just enjoyed it. I will say NO DOUBT that any reservations are NOT due to the acting in any way shape or form.
Rob was THE perfect Edward in every way, and while we had been really REALLY worried about Kristen we ended up being very pleasantly surprised. That was a huge relief!

The rest of the cast was just awesome as well, especially the Cullens..WOW!

I just didn't like the way it "looked". The way it was filmed left me feeling dizzy at times, and it also just felt so dang choppy! It didn't have a smooth flow from one scene to the next.
Even still..I could live with that.

Overall I think the thing that upsets or disappoints the most was the amount of time spent on Edward and Bella actually falling in love. I know they couldn't fit in every instance from the book, but really, I felt like they literally had two conversations and were in love!

I really missed the build up of their intense attraction for each other. I mean..I think Kristen and Rob portrayed it well within each individual scene, but there wasn't anything to get you there!

*sigh* There were definitely individual parts that were swoon worthy, and other parts that were just fantastic..the baseball scene for one..and other parts that just had us going..WHAT???

Some of the things that happened in the movie would have NEVER happened in the book..and regardless of the fact that I KNOW it's not gonna be JUST like the book..some of it is just plain ANNOYING because it seemed to me SO unnecessary to have made it that way!!

Oh well..guess I'll see if it seems different to me when I see it again tomorrow!

Here's my take on it. I think Kristin is young and shy and has NO idea how to handle the fame. She just turned 18. I think she likes Rob but she has a boyfriend (who apparently she's been with for quite a while). I'm 39 but I can still remember how confusing things were back then. Rob is admittedly a very nice looking guy and I betting she find herself attracted to him (as he clearly is to her). This confuses her. I think she needs to be managed better and taken care of more so she can handle these interviews better.

The difference between how awkward we would have been at 18 vs. Kristen is that she has handlers who should be preparing her for these interviews. If she can act, she can act like she needs to in interviews.

My sister saw the movie at 9:30 last night. It was a special (free) showing for the theater employees and their guests. My sister was a guest. She called a little after 11:30 and woke me up to tell me how great the movie was. She said even with all of the trailers and spoilers we saw, they weren't the best parts of the movie.

I can't wait for my kids to get home so we can go to see it at 3:50 today!

Really? I felt the contrary, sometimes there just a lot of scenes of them talking that seemed a bit unnecesary. I think they took a LONG time developing there relationship, that's pretty much what the first half of the movie consists of.

BTW, some things I forgot to mention in the review. I LOVE the baseball scene, it's probably one of my favorite scenes in the movie. Very well done and so fun!
And strangely enough, the one scene I haven't been able to get out of my head since seeing the movie was the scene after Edward sucks the poison out and Bella is having all these flashbacks of their relationship and she's doing the voice over and Rob's Let Me Sign is playing in the background. I don't know why I liked that scene so much, it was so overwhelming that it kinda teared me up for a second.

I was just thinking this morning that I actually loved the way it was filmed - had an indie kinda feel to it. The movie exceded all my expectations, loved it.

Another thing I enjoyed, the colors. It was all blues, grays and greens. It really gave the movie the feel of the Oregon, Washington area.

My DS19 took his DGF19 to it last night/this morning and said it was LOUD (fans) but really good.

I may have called his cell phone a little while ago to ask what he thought...he's DOWNSTAIRS but it's safer not to wake him myself. The phone does it for me. Bwahahaaha ((meeeean mommy!!!)) He mumbled he'll tell me all about it when he wakes up. Then hung up on me. LOL!

Rob Pattinson did a phenomenal job playing Edward. Just the right bit of lightheartedness with a good amount of pain and suffering. I was pleasantly surprised by Kristen Stewart's Bella. I like her as an actress but I wasn't convinced she was Bella...I have been convinced since last night. The special effects were fine. The vampires all were breathtakingly beautiful. I enjoyed Charlie's character more than I thought I would.

As far as the camera work...I didn't notice it being too choppy and I have had to leave theaters before due to terrible camera work. What I did notice and completely enjoy were the intensely close and intimate feel many of the scenes had. I felt like I could reach out and touch Edward at times. I am embarrassed to admit this but I had such amazing and vivid dreams last night (this morning). In my mind the characters were so close I could feel them. Kudos to Catherine and all involved for their hard work. It's paid off. Now we just wait for New Moon because it will be coming.

I was seriously planning to go to the movie today by myself. I overslept, and by the time I woke up it was way too late to take DD to school today.

You took the words right out of my mouth. I felt that too. Loved the angst of Edward - Rob did a GREAT job and will forever be Edward Cullen to me.

About 30 minutes before the movie began, a women got up in our theatre and asked everyone to please "not scream throughout the movie" and then had everyone get their screams out before the movie began. I thought she was funny but it worked for the most part.........heard a couple of awwww's and of course everyone gasped anytime a Cullen was on the screen.

Well for ME..it's just that I felt the developing romance scenes didn't quite hit the same kind of note that I felt when reading the book.

One of the big draws to Twilight for me was the CRAZY tension between Edward and Bella. The way they were so completely obsessive about each other. The only time I even felt a hint of that was the hospital scene at the end when Bella has her melt down. Other than Edward actually saying..Bella you are my life now..I just didn't feel that way.
I felt the attaction..sure..but I just didn't get that..I'd die if I'm away from you for 5 minutes feeling.

I really missed the Biology fainting scene where Edward sees her laying on the sidewalk..completely spazes..and then scoops her up. For me..this is when I started to see how overprotective he was of her..which is one of the things I love the most about him.

Or some of the times..like the car where they are so close that she's about to faint from the dizziness of his sweet breath so close to her.
No.."You really shouldn't do that to people..what?? Dazzle them..Do I dazzle you?? Frequently."

The class movie time when they are so close in the dark. Edward watching her from the tree while she reads outside because he can't bare to be away from her.

Annnnd..all of his angst over Bella's clumsiness. I think Rob could really have played that up well. I know a lot of people didn't like that aspect in the book, but for me, it really showed Edward's desperate love for her. Because he's a vampire, he sees her frailty so well and he feels like he has FINALLY, after an eternity found this love, but because she is human..AND so danger prone..it could all be gone forever in an instant.

Now that's not to say that there weren't plenty of fabulous scenes too! I'm just being nit-picky!! I know they couldn't work everything in, and I knew that I wouldn't be totally satisfied. Overall I am happy with the movie.

Plot line aside..I just still can't get over how the whole thing just felt like scenes put together to make a movie...rather than a smoothly flowing film. It just felt like..ok let's hit this..now this..now this. Like checking specific points from the book off of a list.

The whole Bella, Alice, and Jasper in the hotel in Phoenix scene annoyed me beyond belief. If I had to pick one aspect of the movie that I just flat out DID NOT like, it would be that one. SO much was cut there!! I mean we got ZERO relationship development between Alice and Bella, and it was like Jasper didn't even need to be there! Which BTW..his ability wasn't ever even mentioned at all..unless I totally missed it! Not that it was needed..especially in the hotel room. Bella never seemed upset enough to need a lil "extra" comforting!

And you KNOW that that whole issue would NOT have played out like that AT ALL! They would not..did not..leave Bella alone for one second. There were no issues whatsoever with Bella having to pretend of the phone with James or find a way to sneak away..nothing. She just openly talked on the phone..then breezed out the door and slipped away.

IDK..it just felt like everything moved soooo fast..and was so...shallow??

Of course..I'm hoping that a lot of my feelings are due to the fact that I was so hyped up last night, and the whole night was just surreal. I'm going to see it again today, and I bet that I feel a lot better about it after seeing it a second time. It just usually takes my mind a while to process!

I went to a midnight showing last night and I have to say that I really liked it. I think that everyone involved did a good job in transitioning the book to the movie. I loved Rob in it, he was just so sexy and tormented, he did a really good job. Kristen was good as well. I loved the baseball scene so much, I just thought it was awesome and the Muse song fit perfectly. I also thought the ending worked to hook people in for the second movie.The only things I didn't like with it were that the special effects weren't that good (Understandable based on the budget), and I wish they had developed the relationships between Bella and her human friends and Bella and the Cullens (More Cullens in general would have been better).
I really liked it though and I can't wait to see it again.

I saw a midnight screening last night (along with the rest of the world). My theater was pretty well behaved for the most part. A lot of the girls saved their screaming for the end credits. Also...when the Harry Potter trailer came on everyone went absolutely crazy.

I guess I can give my review. I'll start with the bad. The scene where Bella walks into biology and pauses in front of the fan and Edward makes this horrible face...that was the worst scene in the entire movie. At that point I was wondering how I would ever sell this movie to my BF because that just made it seem so ridiculous. I kind of didn't like the actor for Jacob. Maybe just me...but I didn't.

And then there was the missing. The blood typing was left out, and there was not enough of the rest of the Cullens! I think Jasper had about two lines, and did Emmett only have one?! I wish we'd been able to see more of them (it was funny though, in my theater whenever Alice came on screen everyone all clapped and got excited). Also, did anyone notice Jasper licking his lips very obviously when Bella was first looking at the Cullens at their table? Or do I just notice Jasper too much?

And finally the good. I could feel the tension between Edward and Bella on screen. I also thought Bella did a really good job. That hospital scene with her stammering at Edward because he said he should leave here...that so reminded me of my own feelings whenever I have had a big fight or break up with a BF.

I think Rob was the perfect choice for Edward. Omg, did you see how anguished he was at certain points? That really drove home Midnight Sun and Edward's point of view for me. He was so in love with Bella but so angry and upset with himself that he was endangering her constantly by his presence.

I also liked how during the Port Angeles scene Edward just glared at Bella's attackers and they all kinda stumbled away.

I really liked the Bella clumsiness scenes (hitting Jacob with the truck door and falling on the ice).

I thought the actors/actresses for the high school friends were spot on. Jessica and Mike were even better than I imagined them.

Now for things that I thought were a bit confusing. Bella and Edward spent most of their time in trees? Ok, kinda cool, but wasn't really expecting it.

I almost felt sorry for Rosalie. Even though she is really shallow, Edward doesn't need to be That mean to her (telling her that Bella already ate after she made the food). Then when she broke the salad bowl Esme kinda glared at her and was like 'clean it up'. Also, it looked like her and Victoria were kinda having this face off during the baseball scene, anyone else notice that?

And last but not least...the waitress at the Port Angeles restaurant? Of course Edward didn't look at her, she looked ridiculous and not pretty at all.

Overall I enjoyed it and would probably see it again. I think it was one of the most faithful book to movie attempts I have seen.

Also, I saw it with my BF (who never read the books) my friend and her BF who both had, and another friend who had never even heard of Twilight. My BF grudgingly admitted that it was good but he didn't like the production values at all. The guy who had never heard anything about Twilight (24 and single, girls) said he really liked it.
