Oh, give poor Kristen a break! On the Today Show she seemed extremely nervous, which is probably why she comes across as aloof. Many big named celebrities admitted have stage fright and anxiety in crowds and talking to people. Nicole Kidman had said she's dealt with major public anxiety, so has Michelle Pfeiffer. The kid is 18 years old. I think she's handling herself well given the frenzy she's been thrust into.

She looked terrified when Meredith told them they were going outside to meet the crowds. And when Meredith said that the crowds where all nice, I didn't hear Kristen say "two-faced" as another poster wrote, I heard, "yeah, to your face." Who knows, maybe she has stalker. Really, it's got to be a scary situation for her.

Hmm it could be "to your face", but in all reality, if she is going to be in this business a long time, hopefully, she needs to get comfortable with these interviews. Dont you think by now that she knows how HUGE this whole thing is?? And if she is in the next 2-3 movies.... she will have to learn to be warmer to the camera. I am not saying she is a bad person at all, I am just saying that a smile, a gesture towards Rob that says "great working with ya" instead of this uncomfortable vibe she gives across. The fans outside all wanted Rob, but if she had approached them, signed autographs, said THANKS FOR COMING... it just would have gone a long way with the fans. JMO.

Still counting down the minutes..............

The Hollywood film industry is one of those situations where for sure, if you can't take the heat, get the heck out of the kitchen...or get burnt. Stewart is looking a little toasty at the moment. I suggest she buck the heck up.

There are plenty of well credentialed actors who are introverted or downright hermit like. She does not have the chops or the resume to join them yet. If she wants to keep on getting work, she HAS to play the game as far as promoting the films and dealing with fans.

Enough of the poor-Kristen nonsense. She wasn't "thrust", forced, coerced, or strongarmed into this movie. SHE sought the part. She's an actress and (presumably) knows the deal.

COMPLETELY AGREE 100%!!!

I commend Kristen on wanting to be an ACTRESS, not an "it girl." No, she's not coming across as confident or very warm in her interviews, but at least she's also not coming across and dingy or flighty either. She's nervous, tongue-tied, she seems like a smart girl dealing with a lot of new pressure. I've seen some younger Hollywood actors that come across as little studio robots, so fake and manufactured. She seems real, like her or not.

oh seriously...don't believe stupid rumors you hear...that's why they are rumors and not reported fact...:sad2:

good grief, he was live on the today show this morning...

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When she and Rob were walking outside, Kristen said "Two-faced" about the fans... I just dont like her more and more. Rob also seems INFATUATED with her and she seems to be annoyed anytime he is questioned about liking her. Geesh, enjoy the ride Kristen and get USED to it!!

Oh, and t minus 12 hours exactly and counting....

yeah I caught that too:rolleyes2

We don't get the Today show  .

Anyways I just watched it on their web-site and I think its sad that she doesn't seem to be enjoying this whole thing, its her career and she chose to do this movie

As for Rob  , he seemed so much more talkative and friendly today, he seems to have a crush on her from seeing her in the movie 'Into the Wild'.
It wouldn't hurt her to be abit more friendly,

you got that too huh??? he did seem much more friendly...maybe because the girls stopped screaming????

Maybe there is a little nervousness about Kristen becasue of the chemistry with Rob. According to the article on the People website, they were in some very close situations, as we can imagine based on the story, and Rob has proposed to her...she said she didn't know if he was serious, but maybe she is hopeful! IDK, I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt and not criticize her becasue I'm jealous. ;) She is only 18, as a grown woman I don't know that I would be able to handle what she's going through.

Poor Kristen??? maybe you're right..maybe she is uncomfortable and nervous but Im tired of hearing things come out of her mouth in regards to fans and she acts as if everything and everyone is beneath her...shes pissing me off...she has been doing movies since she was a kid...she was in the Panic Room with Jodi Foster so she is not naive as to what being an actress entails...if its that scary then she should find another career...

Just had to chime in and say........ a little under 10 hours from now..... I will FINALLY see it!!!!!!!! Anyone else jumping out of their skin yet>????

girl i have no skin left..lost it about a month ago:lmao:

Hey guys! I'm new to this thread. New to these books, actually! I've just read the whole series in the course of a week and I'm so excited about this movie! Unfortunately I'm going out of town this weekend so I have to wait until next weekend to see it!:headache:

I just watched the Today Show interview and I had to roll my eyes at Kristen. I don't enjoy her personality at all, atleast not the one she showcases in interviews. I realize how overwhelming this must be but even the comment to Meredith about how the fans are "really nice, atleast to your face" was pretty nasty! I like Rob though. At first I couldn't picture him as Edward but I am seeing it more & more, and he seems much nicer to fans.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this thread (and I read all 200+ pages of it!) so I can talk about my new obsession!:cool1:

not really. I"m still going into it with a lots of reservations and low expectations and hoping that the movie will surprise me...I"m more anxious than anything, just as I am when the movie of any book that I"ve really loved for a while comes out...

I can't belive people are being so mean to Kristen, I understand if you don't like her and her portrayal but that's not need to go bashing on her. I don't think anyone here knows her personally or has been in someway hurt by her. And the skinny comments are really not necessary, as a skinny person myself not all of us are our starving ourselves as everyone seems to think.

Anyway, I just got back from the movie and I must say, I'm in love with the movie and Robert Pattinson dazzled me to no end. I'm going to take a shower and then write up a proper and full review. :goodvibes:

Welcome back, cant wait to hear your review!!!

As far as Kristen, you are right, I do not know her personally. But personally, she comes off in her interviews as just someone who is waiting for all of this to go away.. and maybe she truly is. But she should ask herself, how many girls, women, ANYONE, would love to be in her shoes right now- knowing Rob, the entire cast, and having the fame, enjoying her craft.... WHAT does she have to be so gloomy about? :)

I think she knows that and she feels overwhelmed, I don't really think anyone wants to be envied by millions of girls that say means things about you all the time. Plus, people keep making comments about her and Robert that make her really uncomfortable. Robert doesn't mind, he's single, he has a crush on her and he has said that he likes to embarass her, which he does at every ocassion. But Kristen has a boyfriend of four years and I can only tell how embarassing it must be when people keep asking you if there's something going on with your co-star. Not to mention that her bf was probably at many of these interviews. I don't know about everyone else, but I would be mortified.
As much as I liker her and Rob as a couple, I can't help but feel horribly bad for her BF.

OK I have to go nap soon so I can be AWAKE for the movie tonight... (not that hard with 6 screaming teenage girls!) LOL

Anyone else taking a nap before tonight? I have my Twilight shirt all ready to go, soundtrack in the van for when I pick up all the girls, and my camera to take pics of the lines, the movie theater, the movie poster.... you get where I am going with this. :)

I agree about her BF- it would be hard to watch all of this unfold, but again, they are both actors, it stinks, but it comes with the territory.

Luckly no lines here and no screaming either! It was great because most of the fans were still at school, hehe
I'm bought tickets for tomorrow at 6:20 pm and I'm sure there will be lots of screaming fans then. But still, I can't wait to see it again! So many little moments that I missed because my friends kept talking to me...

The Today Show already has the link up to the interview. Here it is:
http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/27819555#27819555

Kristen was stiff and not endearing at all. Rob was very cute! And very much alive thank goodness!!

Robert is really adorable
I'm kind of conflicted on if I like Kristen or not. She is no doubt very beautiful and from what I have seen very talented too, but her personality is a bit lacking in interviews. I understand that she probably didn't expect such sudden and overwhelming amounts of attention, but she kind of needs to warm up to it a bit, especially since all this attention probably won't be going away anytime soon.

Regardless, I am excited about the movie. I won't get to see it until Saturday though. Damn work keeps getting in the way of my Twilight obsession

Here's my take on it. I think Kristin is young and shy and has NO idea how to handle the fame. She just turned 18. I think she likes Rob but she has a boyfriend (who apparently she's been with for quite a while). I'm 39 but I can still remember how confusing things were back then. Rob is admittedly a very nice looking guy and I betting she find herself attracted to him (as he clearly is to her). This confuses her. I think she needs to be managed better and taken care of more so she can handle these interviews better.
I also think it was horrendous of the Today show to take them outside. It really seemed like they didn't know they had to go when they did. I haven't read the remainder of the thread, but did you hear Rob say to Kristen "you know they are going to freak out when we go out there". You can tell that he finds it really strange that these women are behaving like they love him and they don't know HIM at all.
