Tweens at Le Cellier...?

I'm wondering if my 12-year old ten daughters would be shunned if they each only ordered poutine and dessert at Le Cellier. DH and I would like to go there, but a full entree for those two would be a waste. They'd love poutine and dessert. I could even see adding the Cheddar Cheese Soup appetizer if I had to, but I think the poutine and dessert would be plenty for them.

Anyone been there with kids my girls' age? It's a tough age at Disney for dining, as they are paying adult prices for everything but not really quite there yet in terms of value.

I think that would be totally fine, especially if you're paying out of pocket. On our last trip, there were serveral restaurants where my 11 year old and I shared an entree and two sides. Sometimes he's up for a full entree, other times it would be, as you said, a waste. You're the customer!

I thought I might get the stink eye.

I am wondering if we should try Via Napoli instead, as it may be more up their alley. They both look good. Any thoughts? I live in Calgary, so I can technically have a good Alberta steak and poutine anytime I like. :goodvibes

They can order whatever they want. I've been with tweens and seen all ages there, it's not an adult only restaurant. Pick whichever you want in terms of food. Both are nice in my opinion & tweens will be fine at either.

Via Napoli and Canada are really different atmospheres. Via is very loud and chaotic. LC is dimly lit, much smaller and quieter. Both good food though. Well, at Via Napoli I would get pizza, not pasta. My choice is Canada.

Le Cellier quiet??!! Please tell me when you experienced this rare occurance, so I can try to duplicate it. We've always found that the acoustics are so bad that it's one of the noisier signatures at WDW.

OP, don't give it a second thought. Order whatever they want- nobody, including the servers, are going to care one iota. The poutine there is probably quite different from what they get at home- different, but delicious.

You'd be totally fine doing this!! DS11 has been ordering steak off of the adult menu for a couple of years -- he's that kind of kid. DD9 will certainly get a poutine, or nice salad and dessert. No problem at all!!

DH and I ate there this past summer. How to say this... Um, I wouldn't worry about it, at all. Just go and have fun.

Sounds like I am feeling sheepish for nothing. Canadian politeness coming through loud and clear; saying sorry at every available opportunity. :cutie:

I've gone and ordered just soup. There were no problems.
I have another reservation mid april for myself and my mom. We will just be getting poutine and/or soup.

No worries! We'd been booked there before but for one reason or another, always cancelled. So I was sort of anxious to try it. I was a little surprised at how "informal" it actually was. When we were there it was really just like most other Disney restaurants - sweaty people in park attire and balloons and loud children, paper menus, etc. Somehow I'd pictured it differently as well, but not so. Your tweens will be very comfortable there, and don't worry about what to order. Our waiter was super nice, too.

My DD13 loves Le Cellier, and all she orders is a side of fries and the chocolate moose. I think she likes the ambiance and how relaxing it is inside. Last trip we were treated well by our server, until one of the patrons at the table next to us informed him that she worked somewhere at Epcot, then it was like we didn't exist. But the food was still amazing. Pretzel bread and the filet. Mmmmmmm..... But that being said, she likes Via Napoli even better. She loves their pizza so much we had to eat there twice on our last trip. But like others have mentioned, two totally different places, both in terms of food and atmosphere. Either place I think you'll all be treated very well! :)

Quit and LeCellier is seldom ever used in the same sentence, if ever. LC is dimly lit as you said and smaller is true, but with tables stacked so close together, cramped IMO is a better word than smaller. I will admit that I am not a fan of this place either in food or atmosphere and prefer Via Napoli so much more.

To the OP; I would order what you and your daughters want to order without thinking twice; if its poutine and dessert order away and don't think twice about it.

My oldest ordered a side salad and dessert last time. Steak is not her thing but we sat thru character meals so she sat thru a steak meal. We love Le Cellier. I thing the acoustics are bad in the room. We have sat at tables that are really loud and one January trip we were in a booth in the back and it was quiet and relaxing.

Thanks, everyone - I think I'll do both restaurants (on different days, of course)! I wish Disney had a "tween menu" - I think there are lots of things for which it doesn't make sense that kids 9-13 are charged adult prices. At least in these restaurants there is a choice. For some of the dessert parties, especially where they include alcohol, it seems crazy to be charging adult prices for kids in this age range. I would do more of them if there was a "middle ground".
