but thinking now of arrving late on the jan 1, 2005 and staying until jan 6.

The crowds really die down after Jan 2. From Christmas week until Jan 1 the parks are PACKED!
If you can change try and stay after Jan 2nd.
The one drawback is that the parks close earlier after Jan 2, the week between Christmas and New Year MK is open till midnight and Epcot is open till 11.
It is also a cheaper season so resort rates will be less too, another great incentive to go a little later. Remember, if you book on Jan 1 when the rates are higher you will pay that higher rate throughout your week, but if you come in when the rates are low and the "season" changes while you are there you still pay the lower rates, so always book during the lower season.
Most of the Christmas Decorations stay up till about the 10th so you will catch them, but you will miss the Candelight Procession and other Christmas type shows. Peggie
