TV's version of the Christmas parade is different from MVMCP Christmas parade

Am I wrong or was there more floats, etc. on the TV version?

I know the hosts and singers, etc. are special for the TV version.

Can anyone comment if the day parade now (after Dec.20) for Christmas matches the MVMCP parade or the TV version.

I saw the MVMCP parade on Dec 9, I noticed there were more floats too. They also had some floats in different order. The toy soldiers seemed to be more at the beginning. I noticed most of the "extra" floats were lead in's to a special segment - they had an Epcot float that led into the Mission Space segment and a Haunted Mansion float that led into an ad for the movie. My bet is they were just there for the tv taping.

The day parade is the same parade you saw at MVMCP... The additional floats from the TV filming were as Debbie B posted, segways into the next portion of the show, they are not in the day parade. :)

I may be offering information that you already have and know.

About two weekends ago they filmed the Christmas Day parade in sections over several days. I was there two days of the filming.
But will say I felt to "stupid" to find out they pre-filmed the entire show to play on Christmas day.

The order of the filming, floats, acts, singers etc.... were not the same on TV as I saw during the filming. I watched the parade this year more closely just to see how it compared to what I saw on filming day.

Again I felt so silly to believe all this time that the parade was actually live on Christmas day. And had thought that was one reason so many went on Christmas day to see and be a part of the parade. But I guess this way they can edit out what they don't like.

Also on one day of filming they were going around the park bringing ppl in to line the street in certain areas. The park was not crowded that day but the way they lined ppl up it appeared that way on TV.

It was cool watching the filming and all the "takes" it took to get certain scenes. But boy did I feel foolish.

Brady961,

No need to feel foolish. The parade DID used to be broadcast live. It just hasn't been for quite a few years now.

Where were Regis and Kelly(i?)? With the castle in the background I thought they were hung from the side of the Christmas tree at the end of Main St.

Watching them more closely, I think they were in a studio with the green screen behind them. The castle added later?

Did anyone see them?

They were in that area sorta like beside Casey's hotdog place and that open area where the info board is, and the path.
they had a platform set up there and filmed from there.

a few times they stood on main street in front of staged crowd.

I saw their stand on the evening of Dec 6 when we went to see Wishes. It was between the tip board and Caseys. When we saw the taping in 2001, it was next to the tree in town square.
