tv on DCL

There was a news program showing in Cove Cafe all the time. Looked like maybe CNN. Didn't really pay attention to the one in the cabin.

They had CNN and ABC as well as ESPN and the Disney channels in the cabins. There were times when ABC was blacked out and I am not sure why exactly. They also had Disney movies and another movie channel. Not alot of variety but then we didn't watch much TV just usually when we were getting ready for dinner.

The blanking out of certain shows has to do with reprogramming rights and usually affects shows running in syndication for some reason. I am not sure if that is why some of ABC is blocked or not.

As for the VCR, I don't think they have any to rent...and to be honest, I can't imagine having the time to watch tv, there's so much to do on the ship...

is it possible to rent a vcr/movies on the ship?

Why would you want to do that? But, if you need to see a movie, there is a theater that shows first run (current) Disney movies. On our last cruise we saw Pirates of the Caribbean - some what appropriate don't you think? ;)

We may hold off until our July 24 cruise and go see "Around the World in 80 Days" on board instead of on a theater at home. We figure it will be one of the movies playing while we are aboard.

But quite honestly, there is so much to see and do I could not imagine staying in your cabin to watch VCR movies! We barely saw our cabin and never came close to doing everything we wanted to do on board!

I'm not paying the big bucks to take a Disney cruise to hang out in my cabin!

Just my $0.02

I have a hard time falling asleep, especially in a strange bed/place so usually if I have a familiar movie on as I'm drifting off to sleep, I feel more comfortable.

But I agree that I wouldn't want to give up my active times to just sit and watch t.v. Also thought it would be nice to watch bits and pieces of something while waiting for hubby to get ready . . .I get sucked into t.v. shows fast so to know I could watch something "later" would be better.

I know, pretty pathetic really

I suspect you will find the gentle rocking of the ship (and reduced energy level due to all those activities you particpate in...) will put you to sleep rather quickly...

Sometimes I offer my wife a cheap cruise so I can get our sleep patterns back on track. Nowhere do we sleep as well as we do on cruise ships, and frankly teh beds are not THAT comfortable!

 Ok I don't know if this question has been asked before but I'm going to ask it anyway. My youngest a DM, 6 years has a sleep disorder which basically means he sleeps VERY, VERY little. We keep him so active during the day you'd think he'd just fall asleep but oh no not him. Anyway my question is that he is allowed to watch tv in the middle of the night some times when he is really having troubles and I wondered if there is a black out time on the tv stations or do they run 24/7? We moniter every show he watches meaning I am up and down all night but I want to be safe then sorry and since I am presuming there are no DVD players it will have to be between books, gameboy and TV? Help??? Thanks for any info. Houzer:wave:

Channel 40 is all Disney feature cartoons, all the time. I loved it. So will your son.

Plus, there is a curtain between the bed and tv, so he can watch and not have the light disturb you.
