Wasn't there talk recently about changing the TV programming at WDW? The last time there (9/11), the options were limited, unless you wanted to see the WDW channels in numerous languages, and other bland programs. Its been the same channels for decades it seems. There are 100s of other, more entertaining networks out there, ie AMC, HIS, TCM,etc. What would it take for WDW to change the menu? Not everyone wants to stay out late at night dining or clubhopping, especially us old folks. Is it Disney's intent to make staying in as boring as possible, to get you out spending?

I just read on the rumors board that they already have an expanded variety of channels available, including the ones I asked about, plus etc.

The tv options at WDW are infuriating and the internet is so terrible you can't even watch your shows on the computer. I end up downloading movies that I want to see and just putting them on a video player. This way i can go out and find a quiet place to sit and watch a movie. But imho they really need to so something about this. Once again...resorts and hotels outside Disney are doing much better then Disney is...and i don't think it has anything to do with wanting you to stay out of your room. I think these channels charge for access to their programming and Disney does not want to pay.

I thought I had read awhile ago that they were adding some channels, including Fox News. We were at Riverside a couple of weeks ago and didn't notice any new channels there.

I was just at Aulani. They had the expanded channels:
DVC, ABC, CBS, NBC, 3 local channels, PBS, CNN, PBS (second), CNBC, MSNBC, Fox "news", TWC, various ESPN, Golf, Soap, Oxygen, Lifetime, THC, A &E, BIO, TLC, Food, TV Land, Animal Planet, HGTV, BET, USA, HGC, Green, TBS, AMC, CMT, Bravo, VS, TNT, WE, Travel, NFL Net.

I believe all the non-WDW resorts have expanded channels. I know VB and HH do. (Not sure about VGC though).

Anyway, on January 13th, they placed a letter in the rooms at WDW stating that TV would be down for about 15 minutes in mid-afternoon while they switched, and when it came back, there would be more channels. They even listed the new channels.
However, it didn't change that day, or any time before I left on the 20th.

i hope they get fox :thumbsup2

Yep, Disney propaganda and Fox propaganda are both on now LOL
My guess is it took so long to get Fox "news" because Murdoch and his business partner Prince Alwaleed bin Talal do not believe in "giving away" content, and are tough negotiators for carry rights.
