Tutto Italia v's Via Napoli?

Which is better?

We have done both and our family likes Via Napoli a bit better, the reason being we just love the pizza. The food was great at both places but they are both very different I think it is just what you like to eat. I would suggest looking at the menus and seeing which you would like better.

They are two very different restaurants. So it really depends on what you want to eat.

VN has really good pizzas. The atmosphere is great - very light and airy. I enjoyed watching the wood fired ovens while eating.

Tutto Italia is currently undergoing major renovations, so it's tough to say what it will be like when it re-opens in May. Prior to the renovation, it seemed a little more formal than VN. The food was excellent and I really liked the desserts.

I wouldn't even really put them in the same category for comparison...totally different types of restaurants in my opinion. The decision of which to go to is more based on what you want to eat: pizza or pasta?

Via Napoli is a Pizza restaurant...yes, there are a few non-pizza things on the menu but then main theme of Via Napoli is pizza. would not go to Via Napoli to get a pasta dish: we go for the pizza. Period. We love it.

Tutto Italia is an Italian restaurant, in the traditional sense...lots of traditional Italian dishes, lots of pasta. If we want pasta, we go to Tutto. We love it.

Which has the best chicken parm?

Tutto doesnt serve Chicken parm. (Trust me if they did I would know it im a chicken parm fanatic). Via does have chicken parm, and it was good, i was just a little surprised that it came with potatoes instead of pasta. (the allears.net menu states it comes with spaghetti but in reality it is served with potatoes).

But to answer the original question, both are nice, but we prefer Tutto Italia. Great pasta dishes, and fabulous desserts, and always wonderful service! :thumbsup2

Well i guess that makes our choice a bit easier then. My ds12 loves "italian food" or so he says and he wants to eat at an italian restaurant this trip. Granted, his version of great italian comes in the form of chicken parm or lasagna from Carrabbas... He did not think very highly of the dish at mama melrose and we are not taking him to the place at the Dolphin.

I would suggest Tutto! :goodvibes

Thanks all for your input..it sits at about 50/50 ....you have just made it that much more harder to decide :rotfl:

grrrrr...still can't make a decision....although I am slightly leaning towards tutto now, I keep thinking of the arancini at VP (being good for pizza isn't swaying me as I may not be able to manage the pizza dough!)...to many ADRS's to make!!!!! I need some disney magic!:wizard:

We are going in May to Via Napoli and read great reviews mostly pizza, but saw on a site (not sure which one) some dinner pictures and it looked good... we ate last year at tutta and it was ok, I would not go back. My husband had pasta with meat sauce no taste and mushy pasta, I had lasagna and it also had no taste and was very...mushy. I would try Via Napoli with all the good reviews. Good luck!

Do you have decide now? Can it wait a couple of months?

I'm asking because Tutto Italia is currently undergoing major renovations (it's been closed since January and isn't slated to re-open until May). No one has seen the new menu or decor yet, so it's tough to say what it will be like when I re-opens. All of our opinions have been based on what Tutto was like before it closed. I'm guessing there is a good chance that the interior has been completely redone (removing much of the decor from when it was Alfredo's) and the menu will probably change or at least have some modifications.

If you can wait, I would wait until Tutto has re-opened and see what folks say about the renovated restaurant.

Hubby and I went to the pizza window at whichever one has the pizza window. Anyway, the pizza was COLD, not room temperature, COLD.

The flavor was ok...but would have been much better warm.

I absolutely love the pizza at Via Napoli  and make sure I go several times each trip :dance3:

I like both, but Tutto Italia is a little better in my opinion. It seems to have "classier" food, not just pizzas. And Tutto is prettier inside. But, altogether both are great restuarants.

We've been to both and we're divided on which is better....We all agree though that the pizza at Via Napoli is the BEST!!!!!

I'm very fond of both, but Tutto always comes with a warning label from me! On every occasion (3 times now) I've been in the past 2 years the chef will only make changes to 2 dishes. So if you or your family is at all like me (I like how this dish sounds, but can you leave off x?), I would avoid Tutto.

Also, for what it's worth, I'm not hyper picky nor do I have allergies, I asked if they could prepare one dish with a different sauce or another dish without an ingredient (I believe it was either onions or mushrooms). The waitress clearly felt bad and after much back and forth with the head chef was told that he would not, under any circumstances, change anything in any dish but two of them.
