We have a 9:35am ADR at Tusker House. I know the park doesn't open till 9 so is it possible to stay and watch the rope drop before we head over to our ADR?

What's the suggested time to arrive before your ADR? 15, 20 or 30 mins?

If we have to get there 30 mins before, then how do we get back there if the ropes are up?

The rope drop at DAK is probably the second best after MK. They will let you in almost to Discovery Island which is 25% - 30% of the way to Tusker House. There is a little skit where Donald and Daisy make sure you have all the things you need for a day at DAK.

If you want to see the rope drop I would be there by 8:40. I can't remember when they let people past the gates but it's at least 10-15 minutes before park opening.

Beware, after rope drop there is a mad rush to Everest and just a rush to the safari. You should be able to stroll liesurely to Tusker House and check in. You may want to look at getting a fast pass for the safari prior to your breakfast.

Yeah, I loved the rope drop when we went to AK 2 years ago, we got there a little closer to the 9am opening time so our sight lines to see the opening weren't the greatest but it was still nice to watch.

Is it true that all the fastpass machines are in 1 location at AK? Also if they are close is it possible to grab a fastpass to each attraction? I think I read where that was possible but can't recall where I saw that.

I have a 9:30am ADR the first full day of our trip and was wondering the same thing... Thanks for asking :)

I think our ressie is for 9:40am on our first full morning. The only time we have been fro rope drop, they held everyone back in front of the tree, then when the show it was a mad dash in 2 different directions, that is why I made my ADR for just a little later. I wanted something earlier to get in before the crowd, but nothing was available.

You need to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your ressie time.

I don't think it will be a problem either. We arrived about 15 minutes before our time. It isn't a long walk to get to so it shouldn't take very long. You can also have someone go past the Tusker's House to the Safari and pick up fast passes while you check in for your ressies...chances are then you will have your fast passes for when you get finished with breakfast...best of everything! LOL!!

I believe you're remembering a test they did once at AK - but it didn't turn into a permanent thing. As of our last trip in Feb, you still got your FP's at each ride.
Also, I agree with the other PP's who recommend getting a safari FP before you go to breakfast - it's only a minute away! You'll be fine seeing the rope drop and then heading over for a FP and on to the check in podium at Tusker...they won't give your table away if you're not there 10 minutes before..you may just have to wait a few minutes longer.

At MK, the opening ceremony is elevated so hundreds of people can get a great view of it. At AK we have arrived both 30 minutes and 40 minutes before opening; but with their opening ceremony being on the same level as the crowd (confined to a very wide but long pathway) we have not had a very good view of the characters in their safari truck.

I agree that with your 9:25 ADR you can get back to Tusker House in time following the rope drop. We were able to snag an 8:25 am ADR there one day on our upcoming trip. It will be fun to walk into AK ahead the crowd for once. I know we'll miss the opening ceremony but that's fine since we've almost seen it twice already.

Great question! We have an 9:25AM at tusker house. Boy does that seem to be a hard ADR to get (tusker breakfast). I checked every other day of the week we'll be there and nothing. But it's good to know we can watch the opening show, check in at tusker and at the same time have someone grab FP's for the safari.
