Tusker House?

we have had lunch at tusker house both last year and in 2008. we love it! it is one of dd favorite restaurants. we like it because it offers so much variety, the food is delicious, and it gives you the opportunity to try new things. defenetly do not cancel! you wont regret it.

I'm not sure who actually provides UOG with those numbers, but wouldn't agree unless the place has changed drastically in the last couple of years. We haven't eaten there recently, but we thoroughly enjoyed it when we ate dinner there. Liked it better than Boma, actually...some exotic choices, but not extreme seasonings like we found at Boma.

Here's the link to allears rate & review section on Tusker House...it's rated 8.2out of 10. There's 140 reviews on there:

tripadvisor, another user-reviews site, gives it a 4 out of 5 rating, and 90% of users recommend it.

What are samosas?

Samosas are an Indian dish (as in India-Indian not American-Indian). They are similar to an egg roll (not really a good description) in that they have a fried outer shell, but inside is mostly potato with usually peas, onions and maybe some other vegatables and spices. We have some friends who are Indian and introduced them to us. Homemade with a mango chutney they are incredible. They are not spicy hot in any way, though do tend to have a light curry flavor, which is not to everyone's tastes.

The ones a Tusker House are qgood - but they unfortunately changed them between 2008 and 2009, and aren't quite as good. The original ones had more solid potato while the newer ones seemed to have a combination of solid potato chunks with some more pureed potato. Still tasty, but prefer the solid potato slightly. Our server was trying to get us to complain about the "new" version so they would bring back the old one...while I didn't think it was much different, we agreed and put in a complaint, but really it was quite good.

The UG readers survery rated TH a 90%. In other words, 90% liked it and would eat there again. It's quite different then the UG authors rating of one and half stars. I disagree with that rating though. I think you're just fine to eat there with no worries.

Thanks for the comments, all (and for posing the question, Megan!) I have an ADR at Tusker House as well and was aghast when I saw the rating in the UG last night! I'm going to stick with the ADR. :)

Don't worry about what the UG says! It is our 2nd favorite buffet on property... just below Boma! It is amazing! Like everyone else has said it has a great variety of vegetarian options... be sure to ask to speak to a chef. They will be glad to explain what buffet items are safe for vegetarians. We will be having lunch at Tusker House on September 19th!

I'll add my voice to the chorus, too, and say that we love our TH lunches so much that they're a must-do now on all our trips. When the kids are with us, we also make sure to book the priority seating package for Finding Nemo that afternoon. Doesn't cost anything extra, and it's great to have that easy access to great seats at the show! But back to the food - we absolutely love the variety and found that our kids were willing to experiment on different kinds of things there, too - easy to do with just little tastes of a wide variety of foods.

Can't wait to go back this weekend. :)

We ate at Tusker House for the first time in May. We really enjoyed it!

In regards to the samosas....find the green-tinted ones! (Eww, that sounded disgusting) I found that they had two different kinds in the same bowl when we were there. They had the potato ones that I thought were just meh, but the spinach ones were fantastic! They had a bit of a spice to them and were so yummy!

DH only got the potato ones so I took him back up to the buffet to point out that some of them had a greenish tint to them and those were the spinach ones.

We are headed back there for lunch in September.

Lunch is fantastic there - we've been twice...but it is very ethnic - asian and indian inspired foods. The odds are the reviews are partially based on people upset that the food actually had flavor and variety. :rotfl2:

I personally would highly recommend it. We agree it is our favorite buffet, though we haven't been to Boma yet.

I think you are right on! Either people think it's TOO spiced and flavorful, or they have criticized it as "Boma Lite" for not being afrocentric enough! We really liked lunch there. I could have enjoyed the hummus and other dips section and had a great lunch all by itself! We had a chance to try a few different foods, and the kids had a nice typical nuggets/mac & cheese buffet just for them (which we also used for the green beans).

We're going to try breakfast next trip. I'm sure we'll like it too.

I enjoyed my meal there. They were very attentive and understanding when the kids who were with us got cranky.

During our meal, a baby was either choking or having a seizure (I couldn't fully see what was happening). The CMs were amazing. Help came immediately and they were amazing at calming down the family and the all of the other panicked guests. They worked well in a crisis. Thankfully, the baby was okay. They impressed me that day with their service, and for that I would go back...and it helps that the food was yummy.
