We really love Boma but we don’t plan to visit AKL during our trip so thought about trying Tusker House. I realize it’s a character meal but it’s still disturbing that the price is higher. Is the food comparable? We really aren’t interested in characters so are there any other Animal Kingdom restaurants that you would suggest?

Tusker house food wise is probably my favorite character AYCTE buffet. Especially if you can time the breakfast to lunch transition. It's not going to be exactly the same quality as Boma but some of the dishes are high quality and the flavors are great.

I haven't been to Tusker House in a while, but it definitely used to be one of my absolute favorites. It still enjoys a good reputation it seems. It may not be Boma, but it should be good!

Tusker House is a great option but you are paying a premium for the characters. If that's not really your thing I'd probably check Yak and Yeti or Tiffins. Yak and Yeti will be less expensive for food that is still pretty good overall and Tiffins is a signature dining option so still expensive but it sounds like it would be more your style. Or you could just do the Nomad Lounge next door to Tiffins if you would be willing to sacrifice a full service setting for something more laid back and less expensive but just as good of quality.

I’m not sure if Tiffins would work for a picky eater who is coming with me. I will check Yak and Yeti. This is helpful.

We visit TH each trip. Bomas food is slightly better but the food at TH is very good too and definitely different from most of the food at WDW. I’d say if you’re craving Boma but can’t make it there, TH is the next best thing. And the characters are a good bonus.

The food is similar, and prices are inflated because of characters and being in a park.

I basically always eat at Satuli Canteen in Animal Kingdom. Tiffins is also fantastic if you're OK spending signature restaurant money, but the food is different from either buffet.

I will mention that the character interactions at Tusker House were outstanding, when my husband and I were there in July. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy. As far as the food goes, it seemed to me that your options at Tusker House are a bit less adventurous than at Boma. I would give a slight edge on quality to Boma--not sure whether that is really true, or just my perception. Service was outstanding at Tusker House, and fine at Boma.

If you are uninterested in the characters, then I would suggest Yak & Yeti. This can be a hard reservation to get, I have heard, but it offers a nice range of choices. At others have already commented, Tiffins is a signature restaurant, with all that entails.

The bowls at Satuli Canteen are quite nice, and I think that you can build your own. So that offers good options.

The vibe and theming at Tusker House is as good as it gets at Disney. The characters really enjoy their interactions with the guests, and it is worth the money, imo.

We thought the food was better at tusker house then boma. Was quite disapointed with the quality at boma to be honest. Tusker house is really good if you book around 10:30am I think as you get both breakfast and lunch. The ambience is also really cool. Again, better than boma. Worth doing even if you dont care for the characters.

TH is as close to Boma as you will get at the parks. Yak and Yeti is good but a different style of food, more Asian inspired than African. I enjoyed Tusker House food more than Y&Y the last time I was there.

We definitely enjoy Tusker House. We were just there about 2 weeks ago. Great characters and more unique choices on the buffet than other buffets. If you can't make it to Boma, it is a good substitution. We usually do a mid to late afternoon reservation so it tends to be a little quieter at that time.
