We have a Tusker House dinner booked but I also wanted to try a new restaurant so I was looking into Sanaa or Boma, too.

Is the food very similar to TH? Do you think it makes no sense to do both?

Which one would you choose and what time is best to see the animals?

We are going in August. Thanks.

Tusker House and Boma are very similar, so if I wanted something different, I'd book Sanaa.

Sanaa is wonderful. The bread service alone is enough to get me there and I would highly recommend getting even if you're on a dining plan and have to pay out of pocket. Get a reservation at opening and ask for a window table to watch the animals.

We did both Boma and tusker house last trip and Boma is better. Hands down. Yes the food is similar in that it's African inspired flavored and dishes, but the quality at Boma was much better and had a greater selection. It's also less chaotic, quieter while still being family friendly.

TH Had good character interaction, but if you don't care about characters and want a buffet then definitely Boma!

We haven't tried Sanaa, but that gets great reviews. If we were more adventurous eaters if book Sanaa this trip. But I like buffet options with my kids.

Boma has one of the very best desserts in all of WDW. The zebra domes. Worth going to Boma for those alone. The other dishes are excellent too. Sanaa is also wonderful. More East African in its flavor palette. Lunch is best for viewing the animals at Sanaa.

Sanaa would be an excellent choice since you're going to TH. Going in August, I would make sure to make a dinner reservation about 6 and ask for a window table. You may have to wait a bit, but it would be worth it.

If you don't get a window table, you can go outside where the fire pit is and see a lot of animals there, when you're finished eating.

If you go from AKV to the resort, which are next to each other, you can do night time animal viewing. Make sure to peek in the gift shop as there are some unique items there.

We just did Boma for the first time last week and it was awesome. The food was delicious. I would definitely go there. Especially if you are into different types of soups. Also make sure to try the zebra domes for desert.

So if we are doing TH for the characters would it be overkill to do Boma a different night?

We visit Sanaa and Boma every trip and Tusker House not quite as often. TH offers slightly "tamer" versions of the food you'll find at Sanaa and Boma. Thus, my family finds the food at Sanaa and Boma to be better than that at TH. However, less adventurous eaters might prefer TH. Of the two AKL restaurants, I prefer the specials often on offer at Sanaa. (Only one time in the past several visits were there no dinner specials at Sanaa. I was very disappointed that time.) As others have posted, I could make a meal out of the bread service alone. Yum! The rest of my family prefers the variety of foods at Boma. Usually, I am not a buffet person; but I make an exception for Boma. That being said, I doubt that I every eat my $-worth at Boma. Fortunately, my two boys more than make up for that!

Thanks for starting this thread. We LOVE Boma and were planning on eating at both Boma and TH this next trip. We have not tried TH before. After reading these replies, maybe we'll nix the TH meal.
