:flower: Good morning, My dh and I are going at the end of September and will have the free dining plan. We have never eaten at either of these and I was wondering what would be your choice and why. Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

I've never been to AK but here is what we are going to do... Eat at both! We have a Rainforest Cafe near where we live so we have no real desire to eat there and since that is the only table service place at AK, we will use two of our counter service points for lunch and dinner on that day at FTB and TH, then on another day we wil two Table service points, probably at MGM because we want to eat at SciFi and PrimeTime.

If we had to choose just one though it would be Tusker House because I've heard it has a great atmosphere.

We haven't been to either but plan to do both as well. We are doing two mornings to early afternoons at AK. If I was to only try one though, Tusker House seems to have a wider variety of things to eat - to please all

We went in July - I had decided BBQ - then found out Tusker house was AIRCONDITIONED!! No contest, Tusker House!! :rotfl: This time, for October, I'm thinking of plopping dd and dh down at Tusker house (with their food from there) and going to get me a plate of BBQ and joining them!! (if its allowed of course!! I just love a/c you see!!)

One thing to note is that Tusker House has lots of indoor (AC) seating. Flame Tree doesn't. We tried to eat at Flame Tree on a rainy day and left when we realized that all the covered tables were taken.

Every trip, I plan on eating at Flame Tree BBQ; but we always end up at Tusker House. The food is great! 12 yo ds and I split the rotisserie chicken last visit -- more than enough food for both of us!! It was as good as something from a TS restaurant. Dh and I have split the grilled chicken salad, cheesecake, and breakfast meals from here. All have been very good.

We had Tusker House last trip. Next trip we are planning on trying Flame Tree, just for the sake of change. The chicken sandwich at TH was really good! I wasn't impressed with the kids meals though, and neither were the kids! They ended up sharing my sandwich, which was was a bummer.

tusker house roasted chicken plate has to be our favorite CS meal in the entire world. they have a meal deal there that is a pretty good deal too.

the plus is the AC!

Another vote for Tusker House. Excellent salmon, rice and veggies for the price of a burger. A nice change from ordinary fast food.

Thank you all so much, it looks like Tusker House it is, I also like air condition!

You just might change your mind when you smell that awesome aroma coming from Flame Tree,LOL.! We ate there the first time in Dec 2003 and that delicious smell reeled me in. Of course I was 7 months pregnant and pretty much everything smelled good. It is all outdoor seating but it's covered with trees and some roofs. I loved the food. Never ate at Tusker though.

We've never eaten at the Flame Tree barbeque, but we love the Tusker House. It is a good amount of food for counter service and the lines move fairly quickly. It is a nice change from burgers and fries. Debby

We are debating this also, it looks like I prefer the Flame tree bbq but will let the weather(heat) decide since Tusker house has AC.

We would do both but I am sure we will eat too much at Donalds to allow two big portioned CS meals.

eeyore45, I'm sure you will be allowed to take your barbeque from Flame Tree to Tusker House. The last time we ate there we had the meal deal, ate our ice cream, got our Power Aid, went to Flame Tree, got our ribs, and had them wrapped to take back to our resort to have for supper. They don't have takeout dishes, like we are used to, but they gladly wrapped our meals in tinfoil. Since the Tusker House isn't that far from Flame Tree, even just carrying it on a tray over to Tusker House would be fine. Tusker House is huge, with different rooms assigned to different animal decors. Just take your tray to your table.

I love the ribs at Flame Tree. The portions are huge. We plan on sharing next time.

Gets our vote we love the ribs they serve and enjoy the quite dining area they have down by water. :goodvibes :wizard: :wave2:

Tusker House. I've done both and both are good, but I prefer Tusker House. In fact, last month when I was at Animal Kingdom, when I was purchasing the meal voucher, the CM asked me where I planned on using it for lunch. I told him "Tusker House." He said "good choice, that's my favorite restaurant here, and anyway, you also get to sit in the air conditioning."

Never ate at Flame Tree but DH and I still talk about the good sandwiches we had at Tusker House--in 1999!!!!

That's a tough one. We have eaten at both 2 times each. However, our last 2 trips were at FTB because I love the pulled pork. Next month we are going back to TH. It's a tough choice (like Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon ;) ) but whatever you pick, you won't be disappointed.

However, when you are done and need dessert.............. :goodvibes ..........there's a great place right near Tusker House that makes delicious Root Beer Floats . They come in a collectible cup with a Goofy straw. A great treat on a hot day. Can't wait for that either!!!

Since I'm a vegetarian, it's an easy decision for me!! I've never eaten at FTB, but love TH's
Vegetable Sandwich -marinated vegetables on a focaccia bread with hummus spread, served with fresh fruit $7.29

I like sitting outside, though! Well, in very hot weather, I might sit inside. :) But the last 2 times I've been, I sat outside in the little covered section right by the "street". It was great to sit there and watch a couple different groups of street performers while eating, then stay for the parade!

Hi,

Neither is great, neither is terrible.

But Flame Tree has by far the nicer dining area, all outdoors in pavilions scattered across the edge of the lake, with wonderful whimsical theming.

The bbq really isn't bad.
