On our Animal Kingdom day, we normally like to go to one of the Downtown Disney restaurants. But, this year, we are thinking about having dinner at Tusker House. Our 12 year old son doesn't like a bunch of sauces on his food and likes to stick to rather basic foods.

Just wondering if you guys have any opinions on dinner there. Would love to see pics too!

Not sure if the lunch and dinner menu offer the same things, but we at lunch here in October and they had a pork roast that you could have with or without gravy (fantastic by the way) and they also had orzo salad with spinach (again yummy), roasted potato wedges, mashed potatoes, greens beans and carrots, some other rice and coscus (not sure of the spelling) and a shrimp dish. In addition to that there was fresh fruit and breads. If I can find the menu I will post it. My DD who is 10 is picky ate off the adult menu and loved it...she is not a big fan of sauces either. Hope this helps.

We had lunch there in Sept. and really enjoyed it:thumbsup2 The roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy were fabulous.

We ate dinner here in October. My two sons are pretty picky eaters and they found plenty to fill them up. Don't remember specifics of what they had, but I do remember that they did not leave hungry. Hope you have a great experience.

DH and I ate dinner there last week and even though I'm not into "strange" foods I thought it was delicious and plan to eat there again. We "try" the various foods and go back for 2nd's of what we like.

There's nothing scary about rotisserie chicken and carved meats. I'd say you should probably no worry about booking dinner here. Worst case scenario would be that he'd fill up at the kids' station.

Definetly give it a try! We had dinner in September. I wasn't expecting too much and in the end it became a very pleasant surprise. The food was quite good overall. A fair number of options for different palates. And the dessert offerings were great too.

Our server was fantastic and very helpful. I'm sure you'll enjoy it after spedning a day at the Animal Kingdom.

I guess we are in the minority here. We had dinner there on our last vacation, and we did not like it at all. We are not picky eaters at all. We were excited since we heard there were some exotic foods. And although there are, it seemed very bland and nothing exciting. I guess, at the time, it seemed limited in the selection especially compared to other restaurants. Also, the dessert was very limited in my opinion. Furthermore we don't really like buffets in general. We usually try to avoid it unless we wanted to try it. For instance, we tried Boma for the first time last year and although it is a buffet, the food was great.

Since Tusker House was new at the time we wanted to try it at least once.

But that is not to say you shouldn't try it. Everyone has different tastes and expectations. A friend of ours really loved it.

We had lunch there last June and found it have the best offerings for my picky kids. There were some interesting African choices, but most things were pretty basic.

This is a must do for us every time. My kids and DH are on the slight picking side and they love it here. We have only done the lunch, but I think they just add prime rib for the supper menu. There is a kids section too, with mini corn dogs, mac & cheese, pb&j, and more.

we ate lunch there the first week of January and we were excited to try it but we both did not like it much at all. It was too different for us. We didnt like the spices or the couscous. I would not eat there again but.... breakfast was FANTASTIC, a must do now for us!!

We love the food there (it is very much like Bomas) and you can get reserved seating for the nemo show. Taking time for lunch there really makes AK enjoyable. I must say that TRex at downtown Disney is fabulous, so you might want to do both :)

Since I've changed our vacation to August, I still have time to think about our ADRs. Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.:confused3 ;) :rotfl: Anyone been to Tusker House for dinner lately who'd care to share their thoughts/opinions?
