Does Mickey always appear at the Tusker House Breakfast? I can't get Chef Mickey's for the week in May I am going. Wondering if Tusker House is worth it. Not so much concerned with the food as I am with the characters!

Well- Disney will RARELY use the word ALWAYS :-)
But Mickey was there when I was there- and I'm pretty sure he is a regularly scheduled character there.
And the food is WAY better than Chef Mickey's- as is the atmosphere IMO :-)

As stated above - he was there for our visit there and we plan on going again during our upcoming trip - and the food is GREAT!!!!

Same here. We also saw Mickey and preferred it to CM. The kiddos loved it!!

We LOVED Tusker House! Mickey was there when we went in October and it's the only place I know to see Daisy. It's on DH's must do list and we're doing it again this year (along with CM for dinner.)

We were there 2 weeks ago and the characters were Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy.
And we agree, the food was great.
Another plus-if you get a ressie at 8am you can be on the first Safari ride at 9am as it's right outside Tusker House.

And here's a pic of Mickey at Tusker House, looking mighty spiffy in his safari gear:

Great breakfast, TONS of food choices, and so nice to be in AK before park opening.....meaning you can be one of the first to ride EE or the safari!!

We were just there 2/25-3/2. Have been to Disney many times but first time doing the Dining Plan. We did Chef Mickey's for b-fast and added Tusker House after we got there for b-fast and Mickey was there and also saw Daisy as someone stated that was the only place we saw her. We thought the food was much better at Tusker House than Chef Mickey's and it did seem to us that it was a much calmer enviornment. The only thing I didn't enjoy about it was pushing my mom's wheelchair all the way to Tusker House...that's one reason I don't usually visit Animal Kingdom very much when we go to Disney. It wasn't planned very well for those of who push people in wheelchairs...too many hills and the ground is just to hard to push a chair on. (My mom doesn't use one of the electric ones at home so we don't try one in the Disney crowds :scared1:) I would go ahead and make my ressie for Tusker House...I think you will be pleasantly surprised!:wizard:

Thanks for the info- I think I will try it! It is a buffet-correct? I've seen pics of Tusker House and it looks like a counter service place so-I'm confused.:confused3

Also, do the characters come to every table to take pics??

The characters do go to every table, sign autographs and take pics.
When we were there Goofy also stayed and led the kids in a dance around the room- they loved it.

It is a buffet- you go to the main room to get your food, return to your table in another room to eat.

So- watch that you don't miss the characters. Once they start, a different one comes out every 5 mins.

Yes, it is a buffet. They will make your group's picture as you go in at an Africa Safri wall then escort you into a table then you are free to go to the buffet. The characters come around to the table just like Chef Mickey's. They have a scheduled route so if they don't stop at your table do not get discouraged. They will return. There are two big dining rooms...somehow they know which tables they have been to; which tables are about to leave etc; they all will visit every table during the time that you are there. It is a very relaxed meal.
