Hello,

Sorry if this has already been posted but I cannot find the answer. We will be at AK on Monday, Nov 23rd. They changed the park hours from 9:00-6:00 to 8:00-7:00. So here is my dilemma...I have two ADRs for Tusker House breakfast...one for 8:20 and one for 10:45. The 8:20 will no longer get us in early since opening was moved up and 10:45 they are starting to switch over to lunch buffet. Which would you choose? Thanks for your help!

That is a tough one. I would cancel the 8:20 and keep teh later ADR. You can get a lot done in the time you would be eating.

I would keep the later one, we never had any problems with the switch over time always tons of food, though I do remember reading a recent report of someone having a problem. Is it possible to move the later one to 10:15 or 10:30.

We were in the same exact situation for our Thanksgiving week trip. I cancelled our earlier one. Excited about our first TH meal!

I would keep the later one & arrive at 8. Tour until your ADR. you can get a lot done early.
Please cancel one ADR ASAP so that another family can secure a Tusker House breakfast.

1) I am sorry, but the obvious question is why have TWO reservations when you don't intend upon keeping at least one of them.
2) This deprives someone else from making an ADR.
3) Sure, when you cancel, someone MIGHT pick it up.
4) But someone else might have had to change their touring plans because they can't make that ADR at the 180-day mark.

I'd cancel the early one and keep the 10:45.

We had a 10:40 ADR there this past August and they did not switch over to lunch items while we were there. Also, the place was practically empty by the time we were finishing up and a couple of the characters came to our table twice. Goofy stayed and played a little with the kids on his second visit to our table. The kids had a blast!

When we did the lunch change over buffet at Tusker House, they kept half of the buffet open with breakfast offerings while they switched the other half to lunch. After that they proceeded to the other breakfast half. It is a slow process, and you should get to enjoy a wonderful selection of brunch food. Take advantage of the early time to tour and then eat while everyone else is just arriving from their mornings of sleeping in!

We love the late morning ADRs at Tusker House. They will have breakfast in full swing when you get there and at some point make the changeover to lunch. So you pay for breakfast and also get to try the lunch offerings, which is ideal in my book

Thank you all for the responses. We are going to go with the 10:45 reservation. Got early safari FP+ so we will tour then eat brunch.

As for holding two reservations, I just found this 8:20 reservation less than a week ago when the park hours changed. I have every intention of releasing it ASAP so another family can enjoy. Thank you for your concern.

.
1) As an FYI, this is how early ADR's work for Tusker when the park opens at 8:00am (for EMH or for General Public on busy days)
. . . the turnstiles open approx. 7:30am-7:35am
. . . everyone can get as far as Tree Of Life, where they rope-off the paths
. . . guests are told if they have a Tusker ADR, go to the left and look for someone waving a Tusker sign
. . . yes, the sign is cute, and sometimes the CM
. . . that podium person (aka, SEATER) will let you in past the ropes so you can walk to Tusker
. . . all others wait at Tree of Life until the Rope Drop
. . . there is no true "rope drop", as CM's walk you down the paths, so there is not a Mad Rush/Crush
2) In your case, I would do the later Tusker ADR, if you are afraid of not getting into rides early.

They have it for now while they decide what to do.

If I go to the park at 10am, it might deprive someone else from the exact experience they might have had if THEY had gone through the turnstile I went to at that time... All of our decisions affect others. Having this while they decide what to do...it doesn't cause a problem for me. They are going to drop one, no biggie.

4) But someone else might have had to change their touring plans because they can't make that ADR at the 180-day mark.
I think it is the 180-day rule that makes people do this in the first place. To beat a dead horse a bit more, nobody knows what or where they want to eat 180 days in advance....so they make multiple reservations until the time for vacation gets much closer and more reasonable, at which point they make final decisions. I distinctly -- and fondly -- remember walking into Epcot one morning and making a reservation for Alfredo's that afternoon (and with slightly less fondness, San Angel Inn). On the bright side, late cancellations allow people who aren't aware of the 180-day rule to go to a popular restaurant, whether via a late-made reservation or simply walking up (not even realizing ADRs are a thing).

Wow the flameproof cape is getting a lot of work lately lol.

I switched my lunch ADR at Tusker for a 10:45 in hopes that I can get breakfast & lunch. Does it always work out that way? I'd rather have lunch if I have to choose. I just wanted a mickey waffle.

1) They start to bring out lunch approx. 11:00am.
2) By approx. 11:15am, the tables are switched-over to lunch.
3) Any remaining breakfast items are placed on a table "island" in the center of the food area.
4) There is *usually* some breakfast foods left over until about 11:30am.

Very helpful info for me, as I was trying to determine what was the best time to make a breakfast reservation and be able to try some of the lunch items. 10:30/10:45 it is.

OP, I would definitely go with the later reservation.

Thanks again for all the live info you provide even if it does require you to haul out that flameproof cape we appreciate it.
I am sending this to my sister as we have an ADR around that time as well.:)
