The food reviews look good here. Which characters have you seen there and do they have their safari gear on? How are the photo ops? Anyone have pics to share?

We tried several times to get our pics taken with Safari Mickey on our AK visit, (by Lion King Festival) but they lines were always so long and it was hot. This may be a great way to get them and enjoy some yummy food.

Also, is it possible to go towards the end of breakfast/beginning of lunch to sample both? We are not big breakfast eaters. I saw a review that said they did this but noticed the posted hours note a one hour gap between. :confused3

Thanks!

we love this breakfast! yes, the characters are in safari gear. we have seen: Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Daisy. there is time for photos/autographs at each table. can't help w/the breakfast-lunch food thing. good luck:yay:

I thought this was the best for character interaction AND breakfast! We loved it that its the ONLY restaurant we are returning to from our last trip! We saw Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Mickey!

It's Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Mickey in safari gear. I heard one report that Donald no longer circulates but just stays at the entrance for the obligatory photo shoot. That was not the case, however, when I went in March.

When we went in late September all of the characters were still rotating around the restaurant. They did feel a bit rushed to us but the meal was fun anyway - we'll be back! The musical parade was great.

Can't help you with the lunch / breakfast question. I suspect they clear everyone out in between but I don't "know" that.

We really enjoyed it! Here's some pictures we took last February

It is loud and crowded but what character meal isn't? We had an 8:00 ADR and really enjoyed having the park to ourselves for the walk to Africa. Then we were right at rope drop outside the Safari after breakfast and hopped right on the Safari with very little wait, just enough to walk through the queu really!

We just got back from WDW last week and loved our breakfast at the Tusker House. The food was wonderful and I've never seen a breakfast buffet with so much food on it! But everything we tried was wonderful! The whole family agreed it was our favorite breakfast for our trip and we'd return next summer. Mickey, Goofy and Daisy all visited our table decked out in their Safari gear, although we didn't like how rushed they were. As a PP mentioned, Donald only greeted us at the door for our picture. I wish they had warned us that was the only time we'd see Donald so that I could have our autograph books ready (although they may not have let him sign our books since they were in such a big hurry to get us inside). Unfortunately, we didn't like the picture they took of us with him so we had to go back to his line near the FOTLK so that we could get his autograph and better pictures on our own camera.

eventamy, your girls are SOOO adorable!! And that food looks fantastic, too. I'm very excited to try this and glad I booked it for Nov!!!

This is a must do for us everytime we go now. The characters seem a little rushed. But that really isn't a huge deal. We love the selections of food they have.
The characters we had were
Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Goofy
They let the kids play instruments and dance around the room. It was a lot of fun.
Here are a couple of the pics we took on our last trip.

I am not sure about the going late and trying both. But I will say they had tator tots on the breakfast buffet and also ham that they cut off the bone for you and lots of fruits and salads. Plus the normal pastries and cereals. I am not normally a breakfast person either but I really enjoyed this breakfast.
I hope this helps.

:goodvibes

We've done Tusker House several times, always between 8 and 9am. We've not been rushed, to the contrary, each Character spent a good amount of time at each table to dance , chat and have phot opportunities. It's the best buffet, fresh and with a nice selection, frankly the best character breakfast in my book!

WOW! Tater tots and Safari Daisy. What more could a girl ask for? princess:

Thanks everyone! This sounds like a must-do. Love the pictures and the kids look like they are loving it.

If you have an ADR before park opening, how does that work? Love the tip on getting to the safari ride first thing. With only one WDW trip we are still rookies. We made no ADRs then because we were so overwhelmed with the choices. Though we have done many character meals at DL.

You will definitely need an ADR for this character breakfast. We are still trying for an earlier time than the 9:20am slot we have.

The deal with getting in the parks is this. There will be an area that you go to at the gates where someone will check your name and confirmation number. If it all checks out they let you through the gate for your walk to the restaurant. (Atleast this is how they did @ Epcot of the Princess Breakfast last time we went - This is our first Donald's Safari Breakfast. We needed this because Donald Duck was the only character we did not meet on my girls first trip to Disney in 2007)

I've read lots of good reviews about this breakfast and we are looking forward to it!

Yes it works same way.

We were there for my birthday yesterday and Donald did not circulate around the restaurant. Just Mickey, Daisy and Goofy. We were two adults and the characters posed with each of us. We felt they spent as much time with us as with anyone else. We felt the character interaction at Chef Mickey was better but TH was good. DH felt the food was the same at both but I felt the food was better at Chef Mickey with the exception of the Krispy Kreme donuts at Tusker House. Although I will admit the donuts tasted old. We had ADRs at 8:30 and it was packed when we arrived but the crowd had pretty well thinned out when we left. We were there about an hour and a half due to a poor waitress who didn't clear our dirty plates and didn't return with our check very quickly. HOWEVER, they did give me a cupcake and a birthday card signed by the characters which I will treasure forever. :goodvibes

I guess I'll be the odd one here and say that this is the one character meal that my kids said they will never want to go back to. No one liked the food. Kids really enjoy pancakes, french toast or Mickey waffles... there were none (though there must be Mickey waffles somewhere, as I see them in peoples' pics - perhaps they just had none our day?)
I had it booked again for our upcoming trip, and ended up cancelling it - kids said no way. I said really? I wanted to give it another try - plus the characters are oh so cute in their safari gear!

I think for us we are pretty basic eaters and they did have some different items on the menu that didn't appeal to me and my fussy bunch!

So is having Donald out front something new they are doing?? We were there in May and had all 4 characters walking around. I really hope not...I'd rather see him walk around. Did they take a professional pic, then walk it around to see if you want to buy it? We are going again next May and I just want to know in advance what it's like now. I don't want it to change!

This is my DS8's favorite place to eat. We've eaten here 3 times and loved the food every time. We'll be going back in April too - it was our kids' first request.

Every time we have been there, Mickey, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy have come to our table. Here are some pics from our most recent trip in April:

We absolutely loved this breakfast, in fact when making ADRs for Dec. it was on top of everyones list. It was a nice leisure meal where we didn't feel pushed, the characters came by in a nice pace and the food was good. We all found something we liked.

This was our favorite character breakfast, as far as food goes. We went last year, when Donald was still roaming the room :)
