I have a bit of a dilemma...I can't decide what time to have our Tusker House breakfast. I have changed it 3x now. We will be going in March (the 13th to be exact) which is during spring break. I first had reservations for 10:30...thinking we could get there at rope drop, grab a few fastpasses and maybe do a ride than hit breakfast, then I decided to do a 8:10 breakfast and get it out of the way before the park opens. I started to do more thinking and then realized it might be too early to get the girls up and out the door and to AK by 8am...we are staying at CBR...so I changed it back to 10:30. Now I'm thinking it won't be that much earlier that we will have to be up to get to AK at rope drop and maybe I should change it back to 8:10. Thoughts? Maybe I'm making this more difficult than it needs to be!!

What day of your trip is this breakfast? Early - go with the early breakfast. The girls won't be tired yet and they I'm at Disney excitement will have them up and moving with no problems. Mid to later in the trip, stay with 10:30 and then if you have a problem getting the kids up and moving for rope drop, you can still make the reservation and then enjoy the park.

Typically this is how I decide on when to make reservations - the longer we are there the later the morning ressies. It works for us. We have also found (especially at O'hana) the later the ressie, the more relaxed the meal can be.

It will be midweek...day 4 of 7. This will be my first trip without dh (were going on a cruise in May and not taking the kids) and getting them up and ready without him may or may not work out...its the 16 yr old that I may have the most trouble with ;)

Having done WDW with teenagers many times, I know I'd never have gotten mine to an 8am breakfast.

There is nothing that would make me waste park morning hours on a sit down meal in the park. I am fortunate in that my wife and daughter agree. We have enjoyed (and will enjoy this October) the early breakfast at Tusker House. Plus it is really cool to walk through an empty park to the restaurant.

We always do the earliest seating at Tusker House. My kids are always so excited to be at Disney they have NO trouble getting up early in the mornings! Plus we go to bed by 9-10pm every night in anticipation of an early breakfast + rope drop.

would say early breakfast then maybe do the Flights of wonder bird show for stomach to settle or Bug show and then. Rope drop is going to be 7 AM starting in November -March seen today on line..:cool1:

Tusker House before park opening is our absolute favorite, and personally I think waking up anytime before noon is early. But I love being in any of the parks with very few other people there. It makes for some great photo opportunities. Also, since Tusker is right next to the safari, its very easy to be one of the first ones on.

We have dined @ Tusker House 3xs. First time we didn't know as much as we know now though haha. I am in the same boat as you with an 8AM seating being a bit much with going to bed late, being on vacation, etc. So we have done 9am seatings and this has always worked wonderfully. We get there 10 to 9 and they let us in before regular guests and tell us to head straight to the back and by the time we make that trek and wait about 5-10 mins, the park is officially open and we get FPs for the safari which is right next to TH. We finish breakfast and hop on the safari. We have always done AK in a 1/2 day, hitting everything we want there. GL!

+1

OP, do you really want breakfast at Tusker House? Because I have read that there will be characters at lunch starting in December and a lunchtime ADR would let you get more accomplished in the morning ...

Yes, we want the breakfast. The lunch menu does not really appeal to us.

Yikes! That is early...not sure we can make that rope drop! The nice thing about the early breakfast was getting there before the park opened...now it really doesn't matter.

Where did you see this? I haven't seen it yet. I thought that it was just staying open until 7pm. :confused3 Disney's site is still showing it opening at 9.
