AK opens at 9:00 on this day. We will be there for rope drop.

I have a choice of 9:10 or 9:55 ADR. My concern with the 9:55 is that we won't be able to get anything done before breakfast so it will waste 45 minutes. Which would you choose?

Are the characters out first thing? We could do those and get that out of the way between 9 and 9:40?

The times are so approximate anyway it seems. Do the 9:10 and be there for the rope drop show. When you walk back to Tusker House, one or two people in your party take all park tix and go and get FPs for Kilamanjaro Safaris while others are waiting to check in/get pic with Donald. The FP machines are just steps away, should only take you a couple extra minutes with plenty of time to rejoin the rest of your party. Timing should be perfect for you to be in the FP window when you are done with breakfast.

We go at rope drop the day the park opens early if you stay on-site (don't know if this is a possibility for you)

We always do 8:30-8:45 ADR's, I check in for all while someone else goes and gets the FP's for Kilamanjero Safari. As long as you are all there they will seat you, even early. The interaction with the characters is great fun and the buffet is fresh and tasty.

Then when you're all done, it's off to the safari while the animals are still fresh (especially if you travel in summer)! The only thing I don't recomend doing in the am is the Kahli River Rapids unless you have a change of clothes or don't mind being dripping wet and damp the rest of the day!

Animal Kingdom is not an attraction-heavy park to begin with, so I don't think 45 minutes here or there will make a huge difference. But I do think you should grab FastPasses for the safari, as that line can be long. Anyone wanting to ride Everest should get a FastPass for that when available, as well.

Many attractions are shows, and IMHO, some of the best things to experience in any park. Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo: The Musical are not to be missed. Most of the park will be walking trails or Conservation Station otherwise, which can be experienced without a timetable.

Thanks guys! Will they let us in before Rope Drop since we're supposed to check in 15 minutes early for our 9:10 reservation? I know, probably not, but if you don't ask, you never know.

All parks will allow guests time to check in early enough to get to their ADR breakfast, so you should be fine. You should check in early, because it does take time to walk to the back of the park.

You probably can go in early on a 9:10, because they probably start at 8:00 for breakfast. We had 8:15 and 8:05 reservations on the trip. One was at Epcot opening at 9, but they seemed not to let anyone in before 8. The other was at AK with 8:00 early open, but they didn't let anyone past the rope before 8. So my experience about going in early is kinda not real clear. It's clear that if you have an 8:05 they won't necessarily let you in at 7:50.

The thing is, it's fun to see the rope drop show (well, at least if you've never seen it before), so you might want to stay there for it anyway. Since they will drop it at 9, it'll take, eh, about 5 minutes to walk back, well, yeah, in theory you'd be cutting it close. In practice, those res times are almost meaningless within a range of about 15 minutes on either side. It's quite probable you'd be standing in a line back there either way, whether you go check in about 8:55 or if you get there at 9:05, and if you go in early you miss the show. ;)

I would choose the early one. We always go to the first or near first seating, and it always works out well for us, regarding getting things done in a timely manner in the park.

This is exactly what we did and it worked perfectly! We had a reservation at 9:15.
