Tusker House- Breakfast or Lunch?

When our 180 days rolled round, Tusker House was the only ADR I didn't manage to get as I'd hoped... We're wanted a breakfast ADR as near to 8am as we could get, but there was nothing. Instead, we booked a 1pm lunch (as I want to meet Mickey and Donald in their safari gear!) and I convinced myself it was a better option.

I was playing around with MDE earlier, and found 8.10am ADR for the same day, and have booked that as well, whilst I decide which one to go for.

If it was you, which would you pick?
We're hoping to stay up for Wishes at MK the night before, so it would be an early start after a late night, but we're just two adults travelling- no kids to worry about.

Do you think it would be worth cancelling the lunch ADR to get in the park early, or do you think lunch is better?

I'd love to hear some thoughts! :)

Is her to the park for rope drop (the breakfast ADR people only have a couple of minute head start in you), and keep lunch. Two reasons. The food is better at lunch and around 1pm you'll have killed all the main things and be ready for a break. You can then do The shows and parade on a full tummy safely ;)

i would do breakfast - we really enjoy the food at TH for breakfast - the ham is especially yummy :goodvibes

I also like walking through AK prior to opening :)

Breakfast has good food, plenty of choice, and I love the fruit juice they serve for breakfast.

It depends if it's an EMH or not.

Lunch is also pretty good.
I would even change that to a slightly later time.
Guests will arrive around 11ish, and hit the restaurants by noon. So doing RD and eating lunch as late as possible will allow you to complete Animal Kingdom before your lunch, and take it easy for the afternoon once you're stuffed (there are so many things to taste at TH that they usually have to roll me out of the restaurant :p )

Just shows how peoples opinions differ. We did lunch for the first time last year and did not enjoy it at all. It was our least favourite restaurant for the food. Character interaction was very rushed and never saw Donald. Iv heard good reviews for the breakfast though.

We've done breakfast, but not lunch. If you go for opening (regardless of reservation time) you'll have time to eat breakfast before park opening and make it on the first Safari of the day ahead of the regular park guests. This is how we plan to do day 1 in August  The frunch " fruit juice" is deliscious and the ham is good too! Fairly good character interaction although I preferred it when Donald was in the restaurant rather than just for photo outside. However, my Dsis and family went for an early lunch and they had breakfast and lunch items and they really enjoyed that too! :thumbsup2

Hmmmm... I like the idea of hitting the rides BEFORE all the food, and can get a 2.30pm reservation, which might be even better with that plan... DH says he is leaning towards not having to be up super early (and I'm told Tusker House is a bit of a trek!)

Hmmmm... Tricky one though. I will ponder a little longer before I decide which one to cancel. :-)

Was Donald not doing the picture at the start before your seated? That's the only time you see Donald, as he doesn't come round the tables

Not any more :( he is in the restaurant. I don't understand why makes the photo even less desirable to purchase.

Yes he was outside but they called us in just as it was our turn. I would not dismiss going again but would probably do the breakfast.

When i was there in August we went for a late breakfast, which was ideal after having done the main rides first thing. We were then there as they started to bring out the lunch food as well, so we stayed a bit longer and kept eating :) I'd recommend this approach, we then took a chilled wander around in the afternoon.
Im pretty sure we had a photo outside with Donald beforehand too.
