I started planning this trip about 3 months ago so that my husband and I could go on vacation with my mother and her boyfriend. I was mainly following her lead and what she could afford so that we could spend time together during the trip.

Well, she and her boyfriend broke up. :( Now she doesn't want to go anymore and she cancelled the trip and her airline tickets, so it's pretty much a done deal. My husband and I already paid for our airline tickets and decided to still go anyway, just by ourselves.

So now I am starting to reassess things, decide if it still makes sense to keep our current plans the way they are. And I am just going overboard... like maybe we add a couple of days... maybe we stay at one of the MK resorts for a few days... what I'd really love to do is spend two days at Grand Floridian. I've dreamed about staying there since I was a little girl. Thing is that we got a really good deal with free dining and now it seems like things are really booked up because of the F&W Festival and the free dining deal. Not sure how realistic my idea is and if we should do it... it would pretty much double our vacation cost. :( Wondering if maybe we just wait a little longer and see if rooms are released at the 45 day mark and decide then. Our flight is booked with anytime miles so I think I could easily book our flight a few days later... >_> ugh I am such an addict!

One question I would ask yourself: is staying in one of the rooms at GF that big of a deal to you, or just being on property? You could keep where you are staying, and just travel to GF and spend the day there walking around and enjoying the property. Sounds like it would save you a ton of money.

We meal at GF and do other things there but don't stay. Crazy expensive. We'd rather throw away cash on events and tours and dinner shows and such.

Yeah I slept on it and thought about it some more... looked into renting DVC points but the only studio room available in ANY resort was Saratoga Springs. Decided it just isn't meant to be. When I started planning the trip we didn't have the money to stay more than 5 days and now we do, but it's just too late :-/ so little is available in November, I guess it's going to be crowded!

I don't think you're crazy:) I thought about changing a couple nights of our stay and doing a split between Pop (current booked with FD) and a couple nights at at WL. We have the money to do it, but I have to keep reminding myself that we only booked this second trip this year because we agreed to do Disney cheap (booked airfare with points). Wait did I just write Disney and cheap in the same sentence-yeah right  There will be a "next time" for WL - I hope. It will give us something to look forward to!

I agree with the above. I would switch hotel locations but keep everything else :)

If you haven't called, give it a try. Seems others have had better luck extending stays over the phone rather than online. Good luck!

Correct me if I am wrong (and I could very well be) but if you cancel your reservations that include free dining you won't get it when you book a different resort. That offer is over. They only allot so many rooms for the free dining when it's offered.
