I am thinking of buying my husband the universal ticket Buy 2/Get 2 days using my AP discount. After using it the first day where should I go to upgrade it to an AP Would they credit me the full price of 344.99 or the discounted price I will pay using my 15% discount from my seasonal pass? Thanks in advance!!

that sounds like a sweet deal, hope you can get that!

hope you have good deal with it

Can you get the AP discount on already discounted promotional Universal tickets?

You can upgrade at the guest services at the front of either park - if it's complicated, this is the best place (inside the park, not first thing in the morning for best lines). Normally you can upgrade at the hotel ticket desk too but they are more limited if you do need to do anything fancy.

That's what I was wondering too, can promotional tickets be upgraded?

Yes, they can! :)

You get credit for the promo price (ie, if you bought the B2G2 deal, you get credit for 2 days not 4 days).
So a 2 day , 2 park, park to park ticket is $341.99+ tax= $364.22

And the buy2 get 2 is the same price

Season ap = 424.99+ tax= $ 452.62

Difference before tax: $83
After tax: $88.40

If I buy from a 3rd party it looks like I can save about $30 for this ticket, would that mean I still just pay that $$ 88 difference?

3rd party same ticket = $334.97
($314.53 + tax)
Savings= $29.25

Yes. The 3rd party discount is really the only benefit to getting a ticket you know you're going to upgrade.

If you were buying direct from Universal, there's no point - just buy the AP outright.

Thanks!
This will be our first universal trip so I was going to go with the wait & see if we like it approach.

I've read a few things saying people had issues upgrading tickets purchased from 3rd party which made me nervous .
I'd hate to get hooked and them turn us away from an $88 upgrade to a pass bc I bought it 3rd party

I upgraded Undercover Tourist tickets in 2020, it was smooth although I did have to go to guest services in the park because the upgrade was less than the cost of the original tickets - ended up going with one higher level pass which gave us discounts, though that was when the higher level passes were closer in price to the Seasonal.

I attempted to upgrade UT tickets in 2018 also, but we had gone to VB and only wanted a 2 park pass. Only wanted the upgrade for one more day anyways. They let me upgrade 2 tickets to add the extra day for $40, instead of the $100+ for the 3 park pass. So it wasn't a 3rd party issue, would have been the same with a direct Universal ticket.

Haven't heard anything since that implies Universal changed any of the processes.
